  1. Or just loose the brake. There are plenty of mods available in M18x1.5 that thread directly to end of the barrel, not the brake. you’ll have more choice doing that.
  2. MAE is all steel, not aluminium. I’ve got one of their Compact BL mods which I use on a .300wm AW with the older single port tactical brake, and it is fab!
  3. Pete Walker of Walker Rifles. Based in Halifax, nr Bradford. Very very nice chap, very experienced engineer. Does a lot of F class rigs. The .338NM barrel he chambered on my Defiance was beautifully done, shoots a dream.
  4. Serialising everything might have to do with recent export/import requirements?! When I had my last rifle brought over from that US (Impact 737 with MPA chassis, Proof barrels etc), before it left the US I had to have both bolts, receiver, all barrels, MPA chassis, muzzle brake and I think even the TT diamond trigger, laser engraved with serial number & unique part number. I thought it was a bit OTT at the time, but the importer said they’d had parts not get through customs without the serials. How true that is, I don’t know, but I didn’t want to risk my rifle and stuff being seized.
  5. For the 130gn, just use the lower end of the Vhit 123gn load data and slowly work up until you find signs of pressure. Job done 👍
  6. This is a really nice setup and an amazing price to boot. Good luck with the sale! 👍
  7. Ace - thank you! Sounds a bit less of a chore than the Imperial Wax, I find it doesn’t easily wash off and requires several attempts at wiping it all off. I may give the above a go. Cheers
  8. The term ‘Bullet’ is also used to describe loaded ammunition - a complete ‘bullet’ comprised of bullet, powder, brass and primer. Denoting ‘bullet head’ ensures there’s clarity in what’s being sold.
  9. Not interested in the bullets or brass. But I’ll happily take the green tea off you 😁
  10. I’ve never used One Shot or the above with Lanolin & Isopropyl. Does it leave a residue on the case afterwards? Something you need to either wipe or clean off? I still use my small tin of Imperial Die Wax (had the same tin for 10+yrs…never seems to get empty). It’s good stuff for FL sizing, but it gets tacky and needs more than just wiping off…usually cases need throwing back into the US cleaner. I have also used the graphite stuff for lubing the inside of necks when expanding necks with a mandrel or generally lubing the ‘grabby’ necks post US Cleaning before seating a bullet (better for a consistent bullet release).

Holy thread resurrection - I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 7yr old thread be re-opened before. Well done Sir! 👍 Good luck with an answer and getting the brass/bullets you need.
  12. Find a suitable 120-123gn hunting bullet, chuck somewhere between 36.0gn-39.0gn of N140 behind it, starting low and working up, and you’ll be on to a winner in no time. 👍
  13. Agreed with above, many good moderator manufacturers your side. Dont look at over barrel designs (reflex) because they can corrode the barrel. Also, if you plan to use the same moderator on several rifles, unless the barrels are the same contour, the rear bushing of the moderator won’t work out. Personally, given the paperwork and tax stamp, I’d look at end of barrel moderators that attach to the muzzle via an attachment (eg muzzle brake & moderator attachment) - especially if each of your rifles have different muzzle threads. Given the cost/hassle of mods in the US, get several muzzle attachments for each of your rifles and you can easily share the moddy on all your guns. With the above in mind, I’d look into Thunderbeast Arms (Ultra 7 and Ultra 9) and SilencerCo (Omega). Each also have the muzzle attachments you can buy.
  14. Just take a look at the VV loading data https://www.vihtavuori.com/reloading-data/handgun-reloading/?cartridge=49 They show a 240gn bullet, 6.3gn to 7.1gn N340 in a .44spl. They have other VV powders listed too. Start low and gradually work up.
  15. Use one of my loads above - 10.6gn VV N340 in .44mag cases, 240gn RNFP lead bullet.
  16. Any .308w AICS pattern Mag will work. IMHO all the ‘Creedmore’ specific type stuff you see around is all a load of mint choc chip, companies just trying to cash in on the craze. I use .308w AI AICS and Accurate Mag steel mags for 6.5x47L (similar, bit shorter than the Creed but still same .308w case head) without issues. I also use AI AICS .338LM mags for my .338NM (shorter than .338LM) and also .30-06 in AI AICS .300wm mags…all work totally fine. I have no doubt you’ll be totally fine with the ‘cheaper’ MDT…assuming they’re proper AICS pattern. 👍
  17. Before the mods shut you down, you need to state a price. 👍
  18. I’ve got multiple barrels & bolts setup on both my Defiance tube gun and Impact/MPA guns. The Defiance was bought with the same thing in mind - one platform (chassis, action, scope, rings etc) to save cost and keep a consistent platform. It’s a sound idea…shame I can’t stick to one gun. I like nice shiny things too much. Neither of these guns are ‘quick change’, I still need to use a vice. But that’s fine, it only takes 5mins to spin one barrel off, lube the threads of the new one, spin it on and torque it. Im not a ‘sniper’ in the field, so have no need to ‘quick’ change barrels whilst I lie in the mud. 🙄😂 Don’t bother with witness marks on the barrel & action, simply use a good torque wrench and torque to the same setting every time. Takes the guess work out of it. If you do go one rifle, many barrels and regularly switch them back & forth, take note that your scope zero settings are likely to be very different (dependant on the calibres). You’ll need to find the zero for each barrel and make a note - then ensure you re-set your scope to the corresponding zero for that barrel. Simple to do, just keep dedicated notes. Good luck!
  19. Prior to switching to CBS5, I was using Vhit N340 in a .44mag UL with 240gn Shellhouse RNFP bullet. 10.6gn of N340 was good, have been able to hit military reactive targets out to 300m with relative ease using a Rossi 92 and open sights. As you already use N340, I’d just stoke your load up a bit (7-8gn is akin to a .44spl load I think) and compensate for drop. 400m is quite a way out.
  20. Can’t answer the first question, but regarding the second yes ITAR could prevent a user getting support. ITAR governs both the technology itself and anything (designs, schematics, user guides, troubleshooting etc) that covers and exposes the detail of individual elements or the products as a whole protected by ITAR.
  21. Hi Jim, Interesting - I’ve just started using CBS5 in a .44 Rossi, also with a Shellhouse 240gn RNFP. Im using 6.4gn CBS5, which was a recommendation from another user on this forum. I’ve not chrono’d yet, but seems a nice powder puff load and is more accurate than me at 25m. I started at 6.0gn and worked up in 0.1gn increments, finding the 6.3gn and 6.4gn producing tighter groups with little / no recoil increase. Cases don’t appear sooty, so they are getting enough brass to chamber ‘seal’.
