And mine......

Looks very business-like............223 with 80 grain bullets at 300yds should produce some good scores. My 223 is based on a Tikka M595 action with a 760mm 8 twist barrel.
It shoots 80 grain SMK's very well at 600yds. MV 2900.

+1.......I missed a used scope by 20mins, so they gave me an excellent deal on an ex-demo.

I have this one: https://www.cdsgltd.co.uk/lyman-bigdipperfurnace.html
Not used it yet, I'm still waiting for some discs etc to arrive..........
And putting a painted mild steel item into the molten nitrate mixture, a powerful oxidising agent, could result in some fireworks.......

Compared to RS52, RS60 will definitely fry your barrel. I have a 308 with a Bartlein that's only had RS52/155's at 3000fps through it, and after 1500 rounds, it still looks as good as new.
The 6.5 with a Lothar and 600 hot rounds of RS60/123 Scenars is another story................not a pretty sight, but still shoots well.
RS52 is a double base powder, but it's a bit more barrel-friendly than RS60, for sure.

How are you guys supporting the rifle, bipod and butt bag, or F-open type rigs?

How much salt did you buy? I have the same Lyman pot and I've been trying to guess how much I'd need to get a decent depth once melted.

Are you dropping them into water as you go?

I prefer MOA. I used both for a short while, but I tended to over correct with the mil scope.
The electronic targets where I shoot (Stickledown & Century at Bisley) give me all the shot to shot info that I need..............apart from the wind, which can change dramatically from shot to shot.

Bald Headed Geordie, which one of your categories do you think you fit into? ....................I'd say boring stripey deckchair if your choice of biscuits is anything to go by.................................😎

OK Bradders, I wasn't going to mention this...........but you asked for it............................... I also feed a fox, and if I can't get to the hosepipe in time, cats, in my backyard..................

You guys really should get out more.........

Jeez H christ, how touchy can you lot get??? I never dreamt that my post would give rise to so much hypertension.................I thought shooters were made of sterner stuff.

"Fighting amongst ourselves???" Blimey, I just asked a simple question in order to try and understand why a world class range was empty on a perfect shooting morning.
Apologies if I've offended anyone..............

Bradders comment about Plinky Plonkers heaving on short Siberia had me wondering why this is........................what's the appeal of shooting such a short distance with hardware that's capable of so much more? Lack of confidence? Surely they're not all load testing.
One of our early projects was to see how far and how well we could make a 223 go................1000yds with 80 grain SMK at MV of 3100fps made around 2 MOA once on a flat calm day, but as we know, ain't no such thing as a totally flat calm day on Stickledown.

As Bradders said, a 25% discount on Tuesdays..................I book a lane (or two) roughly once a fortnight and share with some guys I met at the NRA Shooting club when I started 9 or 10 years ago.
We used to hire a marker, but the electronics are cheaper, and more convenient.

Two of us share 6 rifles, and we're both ex-scientific types..........so lots!!
There's a great deal of satisfaction (and fun) to be had from trying different combinations of powders and bullets in the quest for that "possible".
I don't feel the need to compete to see if I'm better than anyone else, because I don't care..............

You have my deepest sympathy ! I spent a lot of years making a lot of money, mostly for other people, and now I'm enjoying "payback time"
