  1. When I started reloading for the 260 Rem in 2007, I used Remington brass from the rounds that I had fired. It was dire with different batches showing a case weight variation of in excess of 5 grains. I used to sort it into batches with a 1 grain variation in case weight. When Nosler brass became available, I leapt at that. Nowadays, I only use Lapua brass. I would suggest given the current costs of reloading components, that you select one type of quality 260 Rem Brass and buy as many cases as you can afford? Good luck. JCS

  4. Having watched one in use, they are very versatile. I guess the mechanical slop is to keep them usable in very dirty conditions, but I do think the tolerances could be reduced without impacting on performance. Like all these things, they require practice to get the best out of them. Regards JCS

  12. I need some advice. I have a Feinwerkbau 2700 .22 target rifle and I want to put a scope on it for outdoor competition. The action has a 11mm dovetail on it. I'd like to mount the scope so that I can get out to 300 yards at least. Any recommendations on mounts or rails that can assist me in getting there? Thanks JCS
  13. Burris are good as long as you are sticking to one scope. The inserts allow you to centre your scope and elevate it if required. The XTR rings don't return to zero if you swap scopes. In an ideal world I would have quality rings like Tier One modified to accommodate Burris inserts. I've tangled with scope mounts for 45+ years and I've yet to find a good solution that stands the test of time. Picatinny rails are a small step forward, but rings still seem stuck in the last century. Some manufacturers, including Tier One seem to struggle to make Picatinny rails to spec. Regards JCS
  14. At one time I had Remington 260 Rem brass that varied by 5 grains. I batched it into 1 grain batches. Once I got nosler brass I stopped weighing the brass. I wouldn't dream of weighing quality brass nowadays. I do as little as possible to my brass. Practice in the field is much more important. Regards JCS
