  1. Ronin. Never thought of a prism or optical aid but yes if there is such a device that would fit a Nightforce scope then that seems a brilliant solution. If you know of such a device then that would be interesting to check out for price/availability. Yes the rifle is mainly used for either 600yd benchrest but mainly for 1000yd benchrest and if the above option is not achievable then offset the scope to a set angle to achieve poa/poi. Not sure how the actual angle could be sorted as trigonometry stuff is not my thing lol
  2. Hi Ronin, I did think of this and with the current configuration of the heavy gun I can do this without any aluminium being removed but my neck muscles can cope but it isn't comfortable lol. But it would be a lot easier with say 2 inches taken away. But unfortunately after chatting with the rifles maker he said that the comb is made up of 3 pieces and to remove the top section would make it too thin. That thought was plan B but if Plan A (offset the scope) is not feasible because of zeroing issues then I might have to look at Plan B again. Thanks for the quick reply Les (in the Kingdom of the Blind, the one eyed man is King lol).
  3. Hi Gents, A few months ago now I found out I had an issue with my right dominant eye and had difficulty in focusing and went to the local eye clinic. They said I had Posterior Vitreous Detachment which means the jelly substance becomes watering and sloppy (an age thing) but there was nothing they could do unless it gets worse and the retina becomes detached. Before I went to the eye clinic I was at a competition at Diggle and just couldn't get a good sight picture which spoilt my day. So recently I was thinking how to resolve/improve this by maybe moving the scope over to the left by a few inches and use my left eye to get a decent picture and still shoot right handed (tried left handed shooting but cannot get away with it). But after speaking with a local gunsmith today he said that a mechanical fix is easy to move the scope over, but there might be an issue because the scope is now not in line with the barrel and although if zeroed at 100yds would it be possible to zero at 1000yds without any issue. So before I move forwards does anyone have any thoughts on this or have known anyone who has used an offset scope like I want to do? Any info appreciated. Cheers
  4. Is it just me that I find Mary Poppins sexually attractive and I would 'give her some sugar.' Ok just me then!
  5. I somehow think that this relationship will not have a happy ending.
  6. I have no axe to grind against either party as I do not shoot with the clubs involved. But it is such a shame that it has come to the state of affairs that exists now between the two clubs, as we have enough enemies without the tensions created within our sport on the subject discussed/commented upon here.
  7. Cheers for the info, I might get a box of Lap Scenars and work up a load to see how they compare Mv wise with the Berger 105gr vlds.
  8. If anyone has any 6mm 105gr JLK and 6mm 107gr Sierra Matchking bullets can you tell me the actual bullet diameters please. To cut a long story short, I have a new Bartlein barrel chambered in 6BRA on my Heavy gun and I believe it is on the tight side. During testing using my current bullet Berger 105gr VLD and powder N150 the Mv is only 2830 as opposed to 2960 in the previous barrel and the powder charge is down from 32gr to 29.1gr. It might be that by using another bullet which has a smaller nominal diameter it will be a better fit in the Bartlein. I have measured the Berger 105gr vlds and it is 0.243. So if anyone has any JLKs and Sierras and would measure them it would be appreciated. Cheers
  9. Hi Gents, just noticed that Teslong have now got a rigid borescope NTG1000H version. Photo attached. Not sure if it is in the sample/testing phase but just read it on 6BR website. Also the replacement mirrors supplied with them are not threaded perfectly but the mirror off of the flexible type of borescope fits apparently. Will check out their website to see if they are available to purchase. Cheers
  10. Thanks gentlemen for your input but can confirm I am not using the autothrow/trickler and use an Omega trickler which is standalone. I have sent the scales back to a company to check it out so will hopefully soon find out if the problem is with the adaptor or something a little more serious/expensive. Cheers, Les
  11. Hi Mark, Many thanks for the info Mark much appreciated. I rang up a UK company about an hour or so and he said that it was not L6 but Lb and I did check the adaptor and it was the correct A&D 12v originally supplied with the 120i. He said that as the 120i has no battery it could be a fault with the motherboard and / or it needs a new adaptor. Regards Les
  12. Has anyone who uses the A&D Fx-120i scale had the message L6 appear on the screen? I normally keep the power to the scale but leave it turned off. I was going to use it this morning and even without the power button turned on it shows L6 on the screen. I did check the manual but cannot find any error message letting me know what it means. Any help appreciated. Les
  13. The above photo makes me think of Kenny Everett's slightly right wing American Army Captain who said "Round 'em up, put 'em in a field and bomb the b*stards! How can anyone vote for these idiots/communist/IRA sympathisers! Just my twopennorth chaps!
  14. I would like to sell my Lyman Digital Borecam which is in excellent condition. SOLD.
  15. Many years ago I had the Hawkeye Borescope and it was good but expensive and eventually sold it. But I recently felt the need to get something not quite as expensive but whilst checking out the 6BR website forum I noticed that a new flexi borescope was mentioned and quite a large number of shooters purchased them from Amazon. The optical results seemed to please our American cousins so I went onto the companies website to check out the type I wanted (NGT Rifle Borescope) and ordered it on the 5th Oct and it turned up today. So not too bad considering it came from China and I wasn't ripped off money wise and all went according to plan. The company is Teslong and I wanted to test it to make sure it was compatible with my Macbook Pro. So there are only 2 parts to it, one being the flexi cable with mirror and light source and the other being the USB connector and a dimmer switch on the cable. The flexi mirror part is about 1 metre long so good enough for most barrels. The mirror section is 0.194 diameter and is adjustable to give optimum focus dependent upon the bore diameter. I used mine on my 6BRA barrels and also my .284 Win barrels with no problems. There is another version for barrels of 0.223 diameter and smaller I believe. I took a couple of photos of old and new barrels on my heavy gun and have attached some below. I tried to download 2 vids but they exceed the maximum permitted. The first photo is of my old barrel in 6BRA and shows the carbon ring. The second photo is of my new unused Bartlein barrel chambered for 6BRA. Optical quality is quite good I think. It didn't cost a fortune and I think I paid about £45 or so and it came via DHL and is trackable and arrived as promised. Definitely worth a look I think and no I am not importing them so get one yourself lol.
  16. Harry Billinge. I won't forget that interview. Sharp as a tack and what a guy!
  17. Ok Nick, the only problem you could have in using the neck sizing die only after multiply firings is that your not full length resizing the case and might find your cases will eventually not fit into the chamber until full length resized. Also the case headspace dimension might be excessive and the case will be too tight to close your bolt. This is were the Redding 6BR small base type S full length resizing die fits the bill it does everything in one pass. I have long since stopped using just a neck sizing die as at somepoint you will have to use the full length die, or a shoulder bump die along with your neck size die. Hope that info helps.
  18. Are you using 2 separate dies? One to deprime and full length with the neck expander and another to neck size only? If you are, then for the neck size bushing die you do not need to lube the inside of the neck, but just a little sizing die wax on the outside of the neck. The only time I use lube inside the case neck is when I seat bullets and use graphite powder. However, if your using 2 dies as above then for the die with the neck expander you will obviously lube the outside of the case. As for lubing the inside that is something I have never done as I wouldn't use the expander in the first place. A long time ago I did have a full length die with an expander that couldn't be removed so I ground the expander ball down so it wouldn't touch the neck. But I used a Lyman type M neck expander die to enable the case to be supported and did use the graphite powder to make it easier to expand the neck as a separate operation.
  19. Get rid of the expander ball on your sizing die. They are the worst thing you can use. On the down stroke to full length resize the case, the case neck is squeezed too much and on the upstroke the expander ball really rips the case neck and more importantly the case is not supported during the extraction process and will give you horrendous runout and overwork the brass in the neck area. After you have full length resized and deprimed with the expander ball removed you can either use a seperate neck expander die which will give you the necessary case support and to bring the neck up to give you minimum neck retention on the bullet. Or if you want more neck retention you can use a die that uses bushings and do the job in one go as I do. My custom 6BRA die resizes the brass and I select a bushing to give me about 2 thou bullet retention. Redding has a full length die in 6BR (No 77201 see photo) and you can remove the neck expander ball and use just a primer decapper plus the die utilises a bushing to resize the neck to your desired tension I used this die in my previous 6BR heavy gun. I have attached a photo and you can see that you can remove the traditional neck expander ball and replace it by a slimmer type that just holds the decapping pin and doesn't touch the inside neck.
  20. Maybe The Gun Pimp a.k.a. Vince Bottomley could enlighten us?
  21. I think that if your a competitive shooter taking part in either F class or Benchrest at longer distance say up to 1000yds, then you have enough time to shoot enough sighters as a precursor before the competition starts to 'get on'. Therefore you can ignore Coriolis as you have enough to worry about mainly the wind picking up and dropping off as the competition progresses. However, if you are relying on hitting a target (live or cardboard) and need the 'one shot / one kill' then at longer ranges then Coriolis might have to be taken into account. Especially if the target is small and not an elephant sized one. But at Diggles longer range comps I have taken part in, I do not believe that most shooters even give the Coriolis a moments thought. Just my twopennorth folks!
