  1. 👍I have my verified drop tables. Just looked like a magic bullet (as if) for anyone stuck in the field without verified drops.
  2. BD... I already shoot successfully well beyond 1000 and have my trued hardcopy drop tables as well as AB on a Kestrel 5700 so I am completely sorted across my various calibres. The minor point that I was trying to make is that if I was to be asked for drops for an unknown rifle and given only an initial true drop at say 300 yards then the Galli table (regardless of whether its voodoo or math) appears to provide a fairly accurate starting point vs having to put every variable into a ballistic calculator. I was shooting at Bisley earlier in the year next to a bloke that only had a short range drop on his 308...... he wasn't getting anywhere near on target! He also had no ballistic calculator to hand so what he was thinking in jumping straight to 1000 yards on a wing and a prayer is an open question! To be honest I wasn't in the mood to drop everything that I was doing and setup all his data in AB but the Galli table might have provided enough to get him on target safely. Absent of either he was firing blind and the RCO quite rightly told him to sling his hook!😀 I don't need the Galli table but as I said...... its better than nothing on the face of it.
  3. I bow to those with greater experience here but all I am saying is that the table seems to work to get you on target if you find yourself without drop tables or ballistic calculators. IE a good backup/ backstop...it seems to me.
  4. You fried my brain there BD! All I am saying is that the one sheet would appear to get you damned close on target if your electronics fail or you forget your hardcopy.
  5. I know that I shouldn't be surprised given the provenance of this concept via Frank Galli but having checked the predictions in his recent book against my own (true) drop tables ... I am just plain gobsmacked by how close they are across multiple calibres! In my case 260rem and 6mm SLR are either spot-on or max 0.2 mils adrift out to 1000 yards. I have not checked my 308 or 338 but expect similar results. I think that I will carry that page in all my gun bags in case I ever lose my hardcopy drop tables or the Kestrel goes bang! Anyone else done a comparison?
  6. I tried a 50x Schmidt and its barely usable at max mag. I agree with Pops about the 5-25 being quite enough mag
  7. Shuggy..I found a few bits of universal joint thingies but nothing for pic rail attach. What did you uncover?
  8. Spuhr have just told me that they don't stock the Picrail mount version. Stumped!
  9. Will do. American vendors have a Pic rail version so Spuhr must make them but I can't see them on their website!
  10. John...I have an email enquiry out with them about a direct Pic rail mount version as the website specifies a Spuhr-specific mount.
  11. I am tempted to just shell-out for the Hawk Hill but no USA vendor seems to ship internationally . Surely not an ITAR item?!
  12. Great idea and I am looking at Amazon and ebay to see if a mounting shoe for picatiiny rails is available from Smallrig or others.
  13. Advice sought as I have never used a sling in earnest and want to get off of my belly and bipod for a new experience. So.... I want to be able to 'patrol carry' when not in actual use as well as use the sling for positional shooting support. I am aware of 1,2,3 point slings but struggling to really appreciate pros and cons....... plus availability in the UK. All nuggets of wisdom gratefully received.
  14. JCS... 2 opposing strap wrenches worked a treat....thanks for the tip! 👍
  15. Hard to fathom why it would be the exception but fingers crossed!
  16. I was hoping to get there as well! Stupid call.
  17. Worth a look if I can find a slim one.
  18. Gents Short of having to buy the specific YHM wrench for a one-off removal ... any ideas on how to loosen the jam nut on a YHM handguard? I have a DPMS armourers wrench but there does not seem to be anything that fits the jam nut. Thanks in advance. Ps.... if anyone has YHM wrench thats unwanted then I will buy it rather than faff around.
  19. Anyone know what size spanner needed?
