  2. Too many folks get hung up with velocity- I run a very a slow 2608ish fps and Im very very happy with the accuracy. Speed does not kill the bullseye, accuracy does. Lap' Brass CCI 400 primers COAL 2.545'' - My Max to the Lands with this bullet is 2.585" so thats a 40thou jump. Chamber is throated for 90gr VLD. 3. My answer to your question, still here, just not posting about it. And just like a fair few of you, I'm also really enjoying .223rem fast twist rifle. This was my first semi custom, 6 years ago now, remmy 700 stainless action, with a Lilja 3 groove heavy barrel that was throated for the 90gr VLD, However, I have never got round to even trying the VLD as I had worked up loads for 75 Amax and 60gr Berger Match varmints. The 60grainers are running at 2990ish, but the Amax are at a very accurate but sedate 2608fps, and accurate is def' the requirement for me. I agree with Wyatt Earp ''fast is fine but accuracy is final'' I really enjoy settling down with my cheek on this rifle, wether that's prone for some long range thumpers/crows or resting on the top of a 5-bar for standard range with just the wind to think about. The weight is fine for a few hours of hiking around for foxes, just a lamp and fieldcraft. The vortex ffp viper pst scope is pretty light, dials spot-on and handles a lamp well, would highly recommend.
  4. I remember going to an 'eye-ball' meet and bought a cobra ssb with a power echo mike, mike mike mike mike mike. Neon bulbs that fixed to the top of a whip aerial that lit up when in transmit.
  5. Spent years with CB radios, all AM sets, tristars, midlands, HAM International base station side banders with 1000w burners and directional aerials, QSL cards from all over the world. Magmounts that came off the roof when you hit 60mph!! Treasure hunts all round the country in convoys of mini gt's and escort mexicos......good days!! First CB was hose clamped to the cowhorn handlebars of my pushbike ahha
  6. On the box of 6.5CM 140g ELD Match it says the BC is .646 But why not just go tho their website and get it from the horses mouth? https://www.hornady.com/bullets/rifle/#!/
  7. Nice set up, how are you getting on with the Bifrost? I have one on my Blaser with a fluted match barrel- creedmoor, but Im getting some muzzle flip, only using a light harris bipod - what's that bipod you using? perhaps I need a little more weight up front, but not on the end of the barrel.

  9. Have one on my Blaser R8 with 308 standard barrel and fluted match barrel in 6.5CM, no problems with accuracy and it is just so adjustable that getting perfect set up for length of pull, shoulder height and offset as well as cheekweld is easy and at 1.35kg its a little lighter than the standard stock.
  10. Steelcore Designs, have had a few rounds with the msr cyclone, very low recoil was a surprise. http://www.steelcoredesigns.com/msr-cyclone/
  11. So this can be with short .308 barrel and also switchable to a 6.5 calibre barrel? Could be just what Im after, as currently looking at Blaser...
  12. Hi Tiff, please PM me.

  13. Flyers? what do you call a flyer? An unexplained change in poi for no reason? Or is it a shooter error that you can call your own? I would go and get a box of factory ammo and a standard bullet for calibre and twist. I had a remmy 700 police some years ago, (bought it off flyingfisherman) I spent a while getting an accurate load, nothing special really, circa 1/2moa, but thing was, I could get less than that with cheap privi ammo and also Winchester silver tips were amazing accurate round, never bother wasting my time reloading for that particular rifle. Then I would hasten to add that shooter error needs to be explored- you did mention something in one of your posts about being used to air rifle trigger, if you have been using a pcp air rifle then stepping up to a recoiling CF is a big change and will seriously show up any poor shooting position and highlight inconsistencies. Get someone to critique your positional shooting - obviously make sure that the observer knows what they are looking for against a standard criteria for solid consisted technique of position, hold, trigger control, shot release, recoil management and breathing cycle, etc. Quote "Position was stable and i was able to hold the crosshairs within 0.5MOA with ease." So you have a possible positional stability straight away? - that needs to be taken out of the equation as a priority - Get a rear bag if your not using one - if you are using one then your shooting position is not as stable as you think - I (and I would hope other marksmen on here) will be used to looking at scope reticle that is rock solid on their intended point of aim - no floating around - and with best technique available trying to follow the shot through as much as possible. Check and double check everything, especially scope parallax and ocular focusing, do the head bob test up-down, left-right etc as a standard double check. All the best.
  14. I have very accurate .223, Lilja 1:6 twist barrel at 22" and have never tried 69gr, nor did I ever bother to try the 90gr vld which its throated for, I have 60gr Berger match varmints (h335) for foxing and 75gr Amax (N140) for longer range ie out to 1100yds, both rounds/loads shoot 1/4 moa at 100. With 75gr shooting steel in mountain locations with extremely varied topography I have no issues at 600 to 850, after that the wind can play havoc with drop and windage, especially shooting across undulating terrain, with spurs and re-entrants several metres high/deep etc but with .308 running rounds with a very close BC, the same thing can also happen. But for that to happen across the flat gallery range, something is not quiet right, Im sure a logical investigation, starting with, as you have done, looking at things that can become loose, scopes that are defective and also adding in shooter errors. All the best, as there is nothing more challenging mentally, than not learning why you missed the target. Until you have nailed the problem, learning can't take place.
  15. Hi, A friend who is currently working away may possibly be interested in the 5-25, can you put some pics up of the actual scope that you have though I will pm later.
  16. Thats a mean looking bit of kit, love the action and barrel profile mix, sell to me please
  17. McMillan A3-5 adjustable, Remmy 700, action 223, Lilja Barrel 3 groove 1:7 twist at 22.5" throated for 90gr VLD. Best groups with this one day were one ragged hole/cloverleaf with 75gr amax, 90gr VLD at less than 1/2"(outside to outside) at moment , reckon I can shrink that with a bit more load development. Makes me smile every time I put my check on the stock a pleasure to shoot.
  18. Lots of good makes mentioned above. My advice: 1/ Full leather boot everytime, Gortex and other membranes in boots are always a weak point. 2/ There are many types of Vibram sole, some are very grippy, some used in a lot of cheaper Salomon and Merrel boots are very poor on slippy wet ground. 3/ Buy the ones that actually fit your foot, not the ones you think you want to buy. Scarpa, La Sportiva and Meindel do very good boots using quality leather, Danners are a bit soft in the leather, Lowa Mountain boots are not bad. Buy cheap, buy twice.
