terryh
A, All the right bits! Not too heavy a barrel either? Looks like the Stiller uses a standard Rem shroud/firing pin assy. - yes? Ensure we see the finished article? T

Offroad Gary
Barrel is a benchmark, bought as an f-class fat thing and re-profiled to somewhere between medium and heavy palma, 0.975 at start of taper, down to 0.850 at 28", will be finished at 26" initially. Cant wait for the finished thing, the last one i had built with same reamer is awesome, had that one cut to 20" as a woodland stalker, this one is gunna stay longer, the 10 shot mag would have been handy today.. Ronin
Terry Stiller FP assembly I think is made by PTG - similar but not the same as Rem. Action is lovely and smooth to cycle.. All the Stillers I've built have shot exceptionally well. Ive used several Benchmark Barrels on my own F Class guns, they shoot as well as any quality brand I've used. Parts are all top grade
Dan534
Looks like a nice project, Gary are you keeping the barrel stainless or painting it up? Keep the pics coming Ronin.

Offroad Gary
Looks like a nice project, Gary are you keeping the barrel stainless or painting it up? Keep the pics coming Ronin. Probably painted, just need to decide on colour and subcontractor, theres so many to choose from. Barrel channel needs sealing as a minimum, probably go for one of the lighter base colours, metalwork cant decide between black or tan, probably black as although i quite like the military look, one of the landowners i control wildlife for doesn't, and this rifle will be used for everything. Might have to have it back in the white rather than sending it on to a third party before i get my grubby paws on it and use it for a while, chances are then it will just get used and painting will be forgotten about. If only andy could do it all in house (or shed)!....
MJR
That's going to be one very nice rifle. Keep the action black and just bead blast the barrel with glass to leave a satin finish. Quick rub down with oil and hey presto, maintenance free and non reflective - won't upset your non military 'look' landowner.
Dan534
Bead blasted would look nice given the issue of military looking rifles being far more dangerous than sporting rifles ? it'll be safer to. I'd go tan to match the stock. Should be a good one.

terryh
Terry Stiller FP assembly I think is made by PTG - similar but not the same as Rem. Andy, Sorry misunderstanding in my question - what I was asking is 'would a Remington or Rem clone FP assy drop in?' i.e. if you're at a comp and the FP breaks etc. can you swap for a Rem clone or is the FP assy unique to the Stiller action? Cheers T
