silent_varmintor
hello all, Been a while since i posted here but always watching and reading. I am looking for anyone to offer any guidance on data for 6.5x47. I used to use Varget along with 120 Nosler BT which was a great combo. I only have a hand full of these rounds left so need to get organised for new testing. for the weight of the round i am not really fussed and open to suggestions. I know they work very well with weights around the 120 mark but also ready very good accuracy with 130's. I tried Berger when i first tested and could not get them to work so really looking at Sierra or Hornady at those weights. Powder wise i have read about guys using Vit N140 but again i am open to suggestions. Thanks in advance. Craig
Brushy
N150 and 123 scenars is super accurate in mine and both are reasonably priced and available

How are the Scenarios on expansion ? This is predominantly a hunting rifle.

I’ve only used the scenars for target work but probably not recommended for dispatching quarry.
Scotch_egg
I use N150 under Hornady ELD-M 130gr bullets. I have shot a few fallow with this load but have to be honest they are very frangible and cause excessive damage on chest shots. I would probably look for some more 120gr noslers and just replace the varget with N150.
Catch-22
Find a suitable 120-123gn hunting bullet, chuck somewhere between 36.0gn-39.0gn of N140 behind it, starting low and working up, and you’ll be on to a winner in no time. 👍
srvet
We use 100g Barnes TTSX on top of 42.7gr of RS60 which gives 3200fps and works well without excessive meat damage
silent_varmintor
Thanks all for the info on this so far. seems like Viht N140 or 150 is the way to go and likely I can use 120’s upto 130’s. didn’t realise Varget and N150 had similar burn rates. I have had great results with the Nosler 120’s BT. I only head or neck shot roe so I guess anything will suffice. thanks Craig
17 Rem
N140 produces better accuracy than 150 in mine. Lots of data on Vihtavuori’s website.
silent_varmintor
Hi mate. thanks for the reply. I went onto their website but can’t see anything for N140 with 130’s. Am I maybe looking on the wrong place ?
Catch-22
For the 130gn, just use the lower end of the Vhit 123gn load data and slowly work up until you find signs of pressure. Job done 👍
Furyan
I am finding N140 very good in mine with 110grn Non tox copper bullets (38grn) and 130 (37.5grn) But also 36.5grn Rs52 is good with 123grn EldM

Furyan
Mine 47 seams to like it , But i do prefer the 110 grn Lehigh controlled chaos not had a deer or fox take another step with that bullet.

Had I known about this bullet I would have had another 6.5 creedmoor. He just loves it and how consistent it is.

I'm sure you'd work a good and safe load up easily.
