Bangbangman
Lever-release v Lever-action I had a call from an FEO (S Wales Police) today. He explained that they had realised their database did not distinguish between lever-action (legal) and lever-release (imminently "illegal"). He wanted to check if any of my three lever-action rifles were actually Lever-release. This seemed specifically related to 45cal (in my case 45Colt and 45-70), rather than my 38/357mag. Something to be aware of, in case confusion occurs in other forces.
Catch-22
Interesting. I’m with Gwent Police and I’ve just checked my FAC. My under leaver is listed as “LEAVER ACTION”. I do remember writing ‘Under Leaver Rifle’ on my variation but i suspect when the FEO digitises the details, they select a pre-defined value from their list on the system. I’ll keep an ear out for a call in case - thanks for the heads up!
Popsbengo
I've just looked at my FAC, I've got "lever action" for a Marlin 44, "lever action" for Uberti 357 and "Under lever" for a Henry 45/70 ! I can't remember if that's what I called them on the application to Staffs & West Midlands.
Wentworth Sporting
Mine are listed on my FAC as lever action. To be honest, I always send notifications as 'lever action'. Hopefully our constabulary know the difference. Something to be weary of though.
shoppe
My FAC says lever action for a marlin. 357. That's in Scotland. Cheers Shoppe
