gaz6br
Finally got my feet through the door I've known a chap called Andy for some years now and he has a fair bit of deer shooting. I've been on the list for some years to get in on the ground with them and finally got the call. He showed me around and it's a cracking little set up, and I have permission now to shoot one of the farms Some high seats and views I've only had the ground for 2 weeks and been busy moving high seats and feeders, after 4 mornings and 3 evening this lad jumped out the wood 152 yards and a 87gr vmax sat him on the spot with a neck shot he didn't move an inch Gaz
Scotch_egg
The mighty 6mmbr packs a punch. Don't underestimate it. Some cracking ground you have access too. It's just bloody hard work keeping up with processing a carcass once grassed. Fox are so much easier to deal with once on deck
trucraft
Looks like you spent a small fortune on high seats. They should start paying for themselves now it's doe season. Well done on you're first buck. No way I could have held steady enough for a neck shot on my first.
Finman
I use the BTHP 87gn hornady for deer in my BR. I somehow have a (probably unjustified) fear of the VMax blowing up on the surface....same accuracy and ballistics for both bullets, so no need to change zero between them...just a thought, particularly for shoulder shots. Best wishes Finman
MJR
I'm with you Finman, BTHP's are the way to go. There's a clue in the name of the Vmax , I.e. Varmint.
