Infinity, if that makes sense. The dot on the secondary sight just has to be aligned parallel to the scope tube as it’s only used as an aid to rapidly acquire your target when the scope is set on a high magnification with a narrow field of view. That said I set mine up out of the bedroom window on a telegraph pole tip at about 400 yards and it’s done what it needs to from 100 tout to 1760 yards.

Years and years ago I did some pistol round tests in water soaked telephone directories stacked as if in a bookcase.

Time for a long overdue update!Since we became public there has been a lot of attention regarding the IPRFWord has spread, and our plans widely discussed. Our goal has from the beginning been to help countries unify under either a National precision rifle federation, aid in the pursuit of joining an existing one or in any way unify them. Many countries have had multiple factions running the same sport and we can gladly announce that many have come together and joined forces to represent their country in their best possible way at the upcoming world championship.Currently we have 20 countries on 5 continents that have joined in one way or another, many have gone straight to the important work of creating national federations to ensure the future of the sport and rifle ownership within their countries which for us is the most important task for the international sustainable growth of the sport.Regarding the planned world championship in Spain, which was our first pick, we ran in to some trouble with local government who could not sign the permits for this type of event this far in advance. We have since shifted our focus to the other sites across Europe that we have been working with parallel to Spain. We also have a fail-safe location outside of Europe that is ready to go just in case things go south. We are also currently working on the Factory division and Classic division and trying to nail those rules down the best possible way. Since we launched, we got a tone of good feedback from participating nations on the divisions and decided a slight re-write was in place. Our work continues and we plan on giving you more updates further down the road as we start to spread the workload on this massive project which we all do on a voluntary basis.Â
So currently the whilst the clock is still counting down on IPRF Website there is no World Championship. -
Shot today at an NRA event where 90% of competitors were using Muzzle Brakes, no complaints from anyone.

As I turns out I will be doing some annealing tomorrow night and I will test what the actual temp of my cases using my vertex with my Fluke industrial laser thermometer. That’s goes upto 650 C / 1200 F . And before anyone asks yes it is certificated.Â
edited to say as long as I can do it of course , I have never thought of trying this before as I just followed the instructions that came with my vertex and had no reason to doubt it . But we will see .Would be interesting to see what the ‘peak’ temperature reached is.

I have a AMP Mk2 now but have had both a Bench-Source Vertex and much copied Giraud Tool Cartridge Case Annealer. Setting up both I used Tempilaq, 750F on the inside of case mouths and 350F on the outside from case head up to the neck. In the absence of a high tech method of measuring the temperature this the Tempilaq is probably the simplest way of getting a 'ball park' indication of the temperature being achieved. I also used to darken the room I was annealing in so that I could see the case neck start to just glow red, similar to how Eric C demonstrates. I had no problem with that method and do believe my cases were annealed as the 'feel' when seating bullets was consistent and 'smooth'. I would suggest that when the Tempilaq paint burns off you have achieved the minimum temperature on the bottle, ie to burn the 750F off you have reached at least 750F but probably a lot more, I think the 350F paint on the case wall is a better indicator that you have not overheated the neck as the heat travels so quickly through the brass. Been doing it that way since 2007 without any issues.

Whose rules?

Works for .308 and 6XC, may be to short for long action cases.
