  1. Thanks for that, I'm hopefully sorting out a deal with a NF NXS though 👍
  2. That would be great, can you pm me to let me know where you are in Warwick? Thanks
  3. cheers , I already have the Burris rings, Looks like the Vortex is coming up as current favourite.
  4. Just watched a review after your post, I don't think it's one for me , but cheers for the suggestion.
  5. yeah I spotted that , It's one that I was looking at. I'll have to get myself some mounts as the only spare ones I have for a CF at the moment are my Burris XTR signature rings and they don't give much clearance with a 50mm objective, especially if trying to get an extra 20moa
  6. Thanks for the info pops. Yes I have a rangefinder (Nikon Pro staff 7) seems to be upto the task and is pretty much repeatable with its readings. I've had FFP scopes before but only on my air rifles so only used upto around 70 yards and I agree, depending on reticle it can be obstructive depending on distance vs magnification, but I've not viewed long range with an FFP scope so I can only guess at how the sight picture may be? You're right about having time due to current conditions, that's why I thought I'd start getting some feedback with regards to scope. It seems Meopta Optik 6 and the Nikon FX1000 have been thrown into the mix as has the IOR Vulcan, not too sure on them as I've only got YouTube to let me know people's thoughts, and that can be mixed at best.
  7. I did some reading and was led to believe ffp for long range is more suited, correct me if I'm wrong?
  8. Advice needed regarding a scope that will be going on my Tik Tac 308. I bought the gun as I wanted to get into long distance shooting and was hoping to have joined Offas Dyke by now but a few things got in the way and now with this virus business it's put a hold on things, however I still need a scope and my budget is £1K I really don't want to go over that. I know the usual suspects will possibly be the PST Gen 2, Sightron S3 but I'm sure you guys will have more suggestions. I'm hoping to get FFP and obviously no need for IR? Your thoughts please?
  9. I'll have a play around with it, currently it's mounted at the 6 o'clock position which seems pretty much OK 👍
  10. Looking at that, it seems that drilling a hole through the bridge and using a cap headed bolt would do the trick once the lever has been taken out of the equation?
  11. I bought it from OW when they had a sale as I was going to pop it onto my HW100, that's got a Lightstream on it now so the Frontier is still sitting in its box. I've had a look at OW earlier and they have the PST Gen 2 FFP for 1K, and a IOR. I think I may go that route? 🤔
  12. Yeah I'm looking into a couple of optics. I've had some good scopes (Swaro, Leupolds etc) but I sold them on to buy the BR scopes. I'm going to keep an eye out on optics warehouse to see if anything pops up for a reasonable price once all this madness dies down, I've got a boxed Hawke Frontier (actually pretty good glass and they track well for the money) which is sitting around doing nothing, that may do for the time being?
  13. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm so used to high mag at such a short distance, it kind of frazzles my brain why someone would only need 10x for 1000 yards? Granted the target is bigger but I can't get my head around 10x mag being enough 😁
  14. A bit of background for me before I ask the question as per title. For a good number of years I was shooting air rifles mostly for target purposes, the more I got into it the higher end my equipment got, my natural progression took me to shotguns , then I had some land to shoot on and I got myself my ticket and now have various rifles for different disciplines. I've been shooting informal bench rest at 50m with my 84 Supermatch and my 457 MTR, 1 has the Big Nikko scope and the other the new Falcon X50, my 455 that I use for field is equipped with a Hawke sidewinder, as is my 223 T3 (upto 32 mag but seldom used at said magnification unless its targets set up in the field). My question is, I use high mag (between x40-50) when shooting benchrest @50m which as expected lets you zoom right in but as the whole FAC scene is new to me I'm trying to understand why most scopes used for long range tend to be around the x25 magnification? Now granted I don't expect anyone shooting at say the 1000 yards range to be hitting the bull with every shot as that would be some amazing feat but why such a lower magnification Vs. a much farther distance? Hope my question makes some sort of sense and hasn't been 'lost in translation'? thanks.
  15. Have you seen the article circulating on a Facebook group regarding adapting the Fortmeier by adding some extra pivot points so the legs are positioned at 45 degrees to enable loading up the pod? Quite a good article.
  16. I'm going to have to get hold of a bolt during this lock down somehow and see how things work with mine?
  17. Mine has a very small hole on the top, offset from the centre of the bridge
  18. Yup it works, so yours is the same as mine minus the quick release lever, looks like you have you got a standard bolt in there?
  19. Livens had a couple of klinsky stocks when I was there a while back, they had a good amount of stocks in store for the 452 and 455's.
  20. no harm in trying , got a lot of time on my hands at the mo
  21. Thanks for the advice, I'll pull the rifle out of the cabinet tomorrow and have another look.
