  1. Powder is Green Dot, 10.3gr for 300gr bullet, Load A 11.5gr for 400gr bullet. Load B 12gr for 400gr bullet. Load B is the most accurate Henry Single shot rifle, so no magazine M
  2. Hi Andy, good to know it is not just me! Being of an enquiring mind, I would really like to know why. My rifle is the Henry single shot, hence the sub sonic MV as this is a very light rifle and the recoil with the 400 or 405 grain bullet at 1500fps is more than my old arthritic shoulders can stand!! M
  3. Ok, so I can work with first round thru a cold/clean barrel being a little way ward, but every string? Doing load developement today with my 45-70. Three strings clocked by Labradar over the space of around 60 minutes, each string taking around 15 to 20 minutes String 1 10 shots 300gn bullet usual load, to check scope zero - as expected, first shot a flyer followed by a reasonable 9 shot group shot 1 1055fps, shots 2 to 10, 1103 to 1119fps ( Av. 1108 ES 17 Sd 7.7 if ignore shot1) String 2 10 shots 400gn bullet, load A shot 1 1009fps, shots 2 to 10, 1045 to 1066fps ( Av. 1055 ES 21 Sd 6.3 if ignore shot 1) String 3 10 shots 400gn Bullet, load B shot 1 993fps, shots 2 to 10, 1063 to 1091fps ( Av. 1081 ES 28 Sd 8.5 if ignore shot 1) So why is the first round of each string so crap?? All bullets are H&N TC with copper plating and plastic coating M (still miserable in sunny (for now) Monmouthshire)
  4. Hi, I have one of these drop in trigger units in S&W M&P, and although the 3lb trigger pull is much better than the original 6-8lb, it still leaves much to be desired compared to my other rifles. Is there anyone who can rework these units - or can they be reworked? If not, any other suitable drop in units that cost less than the whole rifle costs? M - twiddling his thumbs in wet windy Monmouthshire
  5. OK - sick of looking at them! PM me your address and wether you want to pay by pay pal or bank transfer M - bored with looking at flooded fields in wet monmouthshire
  6. Hi, I use a fishing cart/trolley, and just load eveything on that. It has 2 x 12 inch wheels, so will not get stuck on muddy ground. Folds up flat in back of car It holds: folding table, folding chair, target holder, target backer, shopping bag containing ammo, range book, pen, Labradar, tripod, ear muffs, front and rear bags I have the rifle in a slip over my shoulder. Works for me, and I am pretty disabled and cannot walk without a stick. With this I still have one arm free for the walking stick. Whatever you do get something with large diameter and large tread width wheels, and do not get one with 4 wheels - have been watching some of the guys in my club this morning trying to cross the 100 yards of bog to the firing point in trainers and pulling/pushing 4 wheel carts with 4 inch wheels - they did not get very far M in windy Monmouthshire (8 - 12 inches windage at 200 yards)
  7. +1 on the aimer - thanks to 1066 I would not be able to use mine without the smart phone app, being somewhat disabled, getting up and down even from a normal seat is somewhat time consuming and wearing Had no problems with 22, just had to take the mod off to get the speeds reliably. 223 is fine even with the mod - I keep the muzzle about 1/2 inch to the side of the labradar, and 1/2 to 1 inch behind the labradar - i.e. the muzzle(moderator opening) is in front of the labradar as recommended in the manual. Some times the unit does not track the bullet beyond 60-70 yards, but that is not a problem to me as I am only interested in MV ATB M wishing the rain would stop in wet, wet monmouthshire
  8. Hi Adam, yes the whole rig is still available, but I will probably keep the scope for another rifle - unless I get an offer I cannot refuse!😁 Additional to the list of bits that go with the rifle are some firing pin spares(2x retaining pin, firing pin spring, and firing pin which I will throw in at cost
  9. As I have not had this out of the cabinet for a year now, I feel that I might as well move it on. I use RWS Special Match ammo (Average MV 1020fps), and I have never had a jam or malfunction with this ammo Pictures show rifle fitted with scope and moderator, but these items are priced individually see above. More Pictures by e mail if required. Face to Face in South Wales or RFD transfer at buyers cost
  10. Hi Roy, yes I do put it close to the muzzle, one of the unit settings is distance from muzzle - these are 0-6, 6-12, and 12-18. I use the 0-6 setting. So, you say that the output is not a beam, but a wave spreading in all directions like the ripples from a stone dropped in a pond? If that is correct, then I can see straight away that it will measure true MV. Obviously I had the wrong idea of the science - Thanks for the clarification! M snoozin' in Monmouthshire
  11. Hi, bought myself a Labradar for Xmas, and having some difficulty understanding how it measures MV. I get the measurements down range and the science behind it, but how does it measure MV when the unit is anything up to 18 inches from the side of the muzzle and level with said muzzle. Surely the first measurement is when the bullet first breaks the beam, which can be several feet from the muzzle - so is that what it calls MV, or does it extrapolate back to the muzzle? Enquiring minds need to know M scratching his head in sunny(for once) Monmouthshire
  12. Hi, I assume that by 13g you mean grains(gr) not grams(g)? Getting off the pedants pedastle and assuming I have read your post correctly, Modern Reloading gives velocities around to 2500 to 2800 for the maximum recommended loads in 22 hornet. In 223, 28gr of H335 would push a 40gr bullet to 3800 fps, again according to Modern Reloading. Personally, I use 25.8gr of H335 under a 53gr Vmax for 3250 fps, which does everything I need from my 223 M
  13. N140, N540. I use N540 with some success M
  14. Hi have you got any 308 left? I sent a pm asking for payment details a couple of weeks ago
