  1. Young Archie a pawn in the game methinks
  2. If I were to ever consider selling it on I would just need to remember the 13 hour round trip I had to collect it....would never sell on that basis lol!
  3. Will have the loading block...please message payment details
  4. Try the Mak mount....Blaser fit but a picatinny rail, adjustable and cheaper than the Blaser offering saves on rings too.
  5. With reference to Remingtons I had a 308 Varmint shooting .5 moa all week long put about 7000 rounds down range before any noticeable accuracy reduction. Then got her rebarreled for another lease of life.
  6. Lefty quality rifles second hand do come up from time to time. I missed the boat a couple of times until finally grabbing an AI AT at around 2.5 k for a folder but worth the wait ,pushed the budget as I already had the glass to go with it. Only adverse comment upon reflection is that I have yet to achieve a similar level of accuracy(308) as I have to date with my HSPrecision HTR.....that said I have just bought a 260 barrel to sit on the AT and had limited testing before the lockdown and initial results are very satisfying at .5 moa without getting serious....l had a Tikka T3x CTR in 260 but moved it on as the lighter weight made it skittish under recoil and more difficult to see your own fall of shot. The AT is superb ...having a lefty makes it more considerably so
  7. Frankford arsenal do a reasonable cost item ....swages both large and small primer pockets
  8. I have had the good fortune to spend a couple of years of my life in North Carolina .I have family there and it is a very gun friendly state...I have had access to some great shooting with all kinds of equipment(it helps that a good friend of many years is an editor of a couple of gun mags!)and I am a member of a gun club in the Raleigh area and to be honest I can’t ever remember feeling unsafe and have been all over that State for the last 25 years or more...point being that a proliferation of firearms does not equal a tsunami of crime. Sure there are rules and if you were to fall foul of them then you have trouble but as stated in my earlier post there is none of the micromanagement we have here ,Ibelieve the many grey areas here are designed to trip up the unwary rather than serve the protection of the public. All of the many shooting friends I have over there ,some serving Law enforcement officers and a couple ex military think our laws here are mental....who would disagree ?
  9. Got to agree on the size thing.....at what point does a rifle cease to be and become an artillery piece ? Methinks there is a way to go on wringing the best out of 338 ? A lot more affordable in terms of kit and running costs....must admit I would like to get my mitts on one of those adjustable 3O0 moa ....rails optics warehouse have them...a mere £530.....What is the most tilt Tier One manufacture ?
  10. Couldn’t call those bipods normal. Look more like the undercarriage of an airbus !
  11. I have to confess that I think our gun laws are a complete arse....I have had a ticket since the mid seventies and the laws have got ever stricter and our country less safe. Hungerford robbed us of full bore semi autos The lies of Dunblane deprived 64000 pistol shooters of sport and in some instances people’s livelihoods with a lot of evidence put under a 100 year disclosure order why? Look it up ...a mountain of skullduggery afoot there...Why the absolute micro management? Why can you not freely buy and sell your own property within agreed limits?why the need to sell a rifle you already own and then have to wait god knows how long to get another similar? The system stinks.....not interested in a discussion on this as people will probably disagree citing fairness and consideration of public safety etc.My views are founded on 50 plus years of shooting and a fac/shotgun cert holder for 40 plus years...I have been lucky and owned some tasty toys over the years but alas no more. we are I do believe participants in a sport that has been on the retreat for decades...
  12. Was watching an episode of K2m today and Kelly McMillan was describing a rig in relation to the amount of weight ,recoil etc that needs to be involved with the design of one of his stocks .He was saying action weighing 8 pounds and 50 mm in diameter a 38 inch barrel an all up weight of around 38 pounds! Some rig that!
  13. Have shot at Eskdalemuir quite a few times and due to weather conditions and cloud cover, mist etc there have been a number of occasions when I have been working through the distances and suddenly uttered the words....where have the plates gone? It gets bleak there on occasion
  14. Probably a good idea given that would likely be achieved without going mad on extreme gear
  15. I stand to be corrected ,but whilst a lot of guys are getting to the mile with some reasonable kit.....there is a big money filled gap to be achieved to getting hold of competitive kit for 2 miles...?Thinking of optics and known adjustment ranges on some of the premium scopes .... what kind of rail cant would you be needing? Could well imagine bespoke manufactured rails costing several hundreds of pounds for a start.
  16. Thinking what will be available at the new Gardner’s range...We had a collective booking with some of the Cumbria lads that was put on hold because of the lockdown ...was looking forward to that but given what is currently happening to people and families it is but a minor consideration.
  17. Amazing skills....noted a mixture of kit.....what is the favoured optics calibre combo?
  18. The Op said he was looking at getting into long rangeshooting ...as you said yourself a FFP scope is the go to solution for many... indeed up until moving up to a big Schmidt and Bender I was using an NXS out to a mile and beyond and was very happy with it though the glass Imho is not as good as the Schmidt it was good enough for the task in hand. The thing to do is peep through several scopes to see which feels best for you....plenty of time to go on a scope hunt .....not much trigger squeezing happening at the moment !
