I did get told by one of the ROs at Bisley that they had been told they were being grandfathered, but it is quite clearly stated in the published bill and/or laws that compensation and surrender will be arranged at a later date, so I assume that is misinformation on their part.

Later date could be 20 years

I had a conversation with my FEO a while ago.  The Police don't need to tell anyone specifically, it's the law.  Anyone buying would be breaking the law, anyone selling would be also breaking the law.  Retaining ownership or legally scrapping is the only way at the moment

    Extract from Police Guidance (HO)

    16 May 2019: Offensive Weapons Act 2019
The Offensive Weapons Act 2019 introduces new prohibitions under the Firearms Act 1968 on certain rapid-firing rifles (section 5(1)(ag)) and “bump stocks” (section 5(1)(ba)), which increase the rate of fire of self-loading rifles.

The prohibitions came into force with effect from 16 May, to the extent that they prohibit the manufacture, sale, transfer or acquisition of such weapons. The prohibition on possession will come into force at a later date, following completion of surrender and compensation arrangements.

As yet there is no surrender & compensation plan and that will have to be put to Parliament for approval.  If you got one, enjoy it for now!

    so they have brococked them

I’ve used a shooting colleagues 7.62x39 rifle (the M10-A1) a few times and found it a fabulous bit of kit feeding without fault from AK mags. Highwood classic arms has one for sale at the moment that I’m lusting after but without the funds to feed the lust!

There were some concerns when first released about the quality of the timber used as I recall, but I think this was due to owners failure to ensure screws were adequately tightened after shipping.

I have a No.5 that I shoot regularly and find it no worse than a No.4 in terms of accuracy. The wandering zero theory I believe had been debunked and any accuracy issues are probably more to do with shorter sight radius, an increase in felt recoil and poor maintenance. I searched a long time for my No.5 and discovered that there is a lot of rough examples out that have had a hard life in military and civilian hands, this in no small way contributes to their reputation as being the poorer relation in the “No.4” family.

    any idea of the price

No, semi auto due to the fact that they are more common in 9mm, they can be broken down into more parts so that they can be stored in 3 or 4 different places, some revolvers completely lack a safety and revolvers cannot be suppressed due to the cylinder gap. They were some of my reasons but I did actually write a whole a4 sheet of why I needed a pistol and that it had to be semi auto.

    restricted mags ?
