  3. I’ve been looking at these for a while now. The chassis is also available for the Sig Sauer SSG 3000/Sig Sauer 200 STR Which would be my interest. I’m looking for one this Autumn and would be interested in a price should you take the project that far.
  4. Not heard of Steiner optics? ... ... ... shame on you! Steiner are an altogether different ballgame to Vortex.
  5. Herewith the solution for anyone who has a Sauer 200/202 and suspect is probably the same for the Sauer 200STR and Sig-Sauer SSG 3000 ... ... ... [The video is in German, but it's fairly clear what's going on.]
  6. Can somebody help me with the correct dis-assembly procedure for the bolt for a Sauer 200/202. I have used the cock/de-cock tool and seem to remember it involving use of that, but can't get the bolt head to move past the "cocked/de-cocked" positions. Thanks in advance.
  7. Looks excellent, but it damned well ought to be at the price they ask.
  8. What does this offer that the KRG X-Ray and Whiskey 3 don't. I like KRG chassis systems - my son and I have two X-Rays - but this is one helluva expensive chassis. Good luck, hope it was worth all that dosh.
  9. Please bear in mind that only the V3 offers the full versatiliy of use with muzzle brakes and varying diameters of moderator/suppressors - the Sporter model is limited in this way and also has a more basic display unit. I've had my V3 for a couple of years now and have used it with various calibres from .22LR up to .300 WSM, with and without brakes and moderators - I cn't fault it. I shoot for MV separately to shooting for accuracy.
  10. I've never felt the need for anything larger than the calibres shown below, all of which I own/have owned/used for large quarry in the UK & Europe: Red deer; Roe Deer; Wild Boar; Wild Goat; Fox + Feral sheep and humane destruction of cattle. .222 Rem (hare, roe, fox) .223 Rem (roe) .243 Win (red, roe, goat, fox) 6.5x54mm Mannlicher Schönauer (roe, DH cattle [160gr solid]) 7x64mm (red, roe, wildboar) .308 Win (red, roe, goat, fox) .30-06 (wildboar) .300 WSM (I've not used this on live quarry as yet) Let's be honest, the larger calibres listed above can be and are used for killing the largest quarry species in Europe ... ... ... but a .338LM would be nice, but would I ... ... ... probably not because I can't afford/justify one.
  11. Theoretically yes as the range is privately owned and has a maximum m/e of 7,500 Joules, however we currently work using HME limits and don't exceed them. We actually have one member who owns a Steyr SSG 08, but it's never been used at Cawdor. I suspect that my FEO is aware of this. To be honest I'm not going to push it as there is nowhere I can shoot it locally and being disabled I'm not prepared to travel long distances just to shoot a big banger occasionally. I also have a very good working relationship with my FEO and don't wish to jeopardise this, plus there are other things I'd rather spend my meagre boomstick fund on.
  12. I'm so sick of the lack of standardisation across the country - it's bad enough that here in the People's Republic of Sturgeonistan we don't have standardisation across Police Scotland (aka Nicola's Private Army), but we get different answers/opinions from different FEOs operating from the same licensing office. I very much got the opinion from my FEO that whilst he wasn't keen on the idea of a .338LM rifle, any .30 calibre rifle will be fine, so as you say .30-338LM, .30 Lapua, .30 Norma or similar. It's utter madness to the point of being ridiculous!
  13. Totally agree with every word Viajero says above. Back to the .338LM - the stupid thing is I'd get something along the lines of .300 Lapua, .300 Norma Magnum, .300 RUM on my ticket with no hassles asthey are .30 calibre - I already have a .300 WSM, but some of the Police Scotland FEOs - certainly in my area (the former Grampian Police area) - have a phobia against any high powered (effectively HME) calibre over .300". It's nothing whatsoever do so with bullet weight/muzzle energy, it's all about physical calibre and especially that magical number .338 - it's so arbitrary in reality. How to get around this - I don't really want/need a .338LM, but it's a point of principle in all honesty.
  14. Sounds like Lancs are more sensible than many. Do you also have it on your ticket for taget shooting and if so is there any primary range. The reason I ask is I'm trying to put together a few pointers with a view to possibly educating my FEO and perhaps getting a .38LM on my ticket in future. Grum** is in Scotland, he has a .338LM slot AFAIK, must compare notes with him.
  15. I broached the subject of adding a .338LM to my FAC with my FEO - he sucked his cheeks, rolled his eyes and said "we've never had one of those before" ... ... ... he rambled on about numbers (meaning calibres) and implied that in his (clearly un-educated) opinion .338 was "too high a number" - yes, really! I think I can justify it, but it's not going to be a walk in the park - this is a work in progress. I know of three .338LMs in northern Scotland - 1 in the former Highland area, 1 in Grampian and another which could be Grampian but could be on an English FAC. I'm sure there are others.
  16. Interesting ... ... ... For use where, which Force area? I've heard of several refusals here in Scotland.
  17. I'm in northern Scotland and I feel that while perfectly useable/ethical for red deer stalking that it's unlikely that the police would authorise such a calibre as to quote my FEO "it's just not necessary". As for shooting deer at the ranges you propose, here in the UK it's just not considered eithical or sporting.
  18. I'm not a betting man, but I predict that Mr Swarovski1 will end up with an annealificator of some flavour or other before long - let's face facts, brass needs annealificating and the Joneses must be kept up with, and annealificators is the way of keeping up this season ... ... ...
  19. Read this thread properly plus the other one on a similar topic and even you may learn something - I certainly did. A few months ago I knew absolutely nothing about annealing, rather than asking someone else to explain it to you, read and learn the same way I did.
