Tikka T3 - 6x47 Lapua

Recommended Posts

Just finished before my lunch, Tikka T3, 26" Bartlein barrel chambered in 6x47 Lapua, threaded 18x1 and capped as usual, thumbhole stock by German Gun Stocks - I could quite fancy one of these myself.

Very Nice Alan,

I shoot 6x47, a fantastic round.

I used in the Sniper comp in CZ last year and will next month, got me to 10th overall last year.

Very accurate, No recoil, I get 2900 out of a 18" Barrel.

Very popular with the PRS guys in the states.

Did you find the load easy to develop Mark?

Ive read in a few places that the 6mm is supposed to be a little fussier than the 6.5mm - whats your load data?

What bullet is he planning on using alan ?

With 105 amax I was getting 3150 fps out a 26" barrel with imr 4350 and shot at its best with Remington 7.5 primers.

Very nice work and I am liking those German gun stocks .

Hi Alan

I use 105 Berger Hybrids, 41.6gn of RS62, CCI 450 primers. Very accurate load.

I have also used 41.3 gn of RS60, about 80fps faster out of my 18".

The Berger's are easy to shoot they don't mind jumping.

I'm in the process of building a 28" version.

I wonder what speed I could get from a 28" barrel with 105's?

how would a l;ight fox load work in this caliber?

Ive never tried it but much like a .243 shooting the 58s I would expect although with a bit more barrel life.

Lets get one built for you and you can report back your findings ;)
