menial 1
I'd buy an AR15 from me , hand built right here in Blighty. It helps the economy you know ;-) Do not buy one of these off this man, they're seriously addictive and shouldn't be allowed to the public. And they shoot crap as well. You have been warned Pete
Millwall Paul
If i was on the look out for a 223 i would be seriously considering THIS Ian. That looks absolutely spot on Ian, I think you've hit the nail on the head there. I think a trip to the gunshop might be in order.

Millwall Paul
I'd love a straight pull like that but it just looks like it'd be way too much fun for me and cost me a fortune in ammo. It just looks too adictive to own. But boy does it look fun! Thanks for all the advice everyone it's great when people come up with suggestions that I wouldn't have found otherwise. I really do like the look of the remmy that Ian suggested as well, it just looks like it'll do the job and exactly what I'm after. Also if I ever get round to it it'd be 'modification' friendly as well.
MarinePMI
308P, I think that'd be an outstanding choice. I have the 26" barreled version. It tosses 55gr HPBTM Sierras into a nice tight little group. Last time I was out, my son had a go, and was shooting .68 cal paint balls off of golf tees at 100-200yds. Not too shabby for the rifle, or the shooter for that matter. I did restock it though with a B&C stock... Did I mention that boy can shoot? As my Dad says "I don't know where he got that from...(read: sarcasm)...
alled12
The cz527 varmint wears an hs precision stock, they are very underrated rifles, I am currently having a semi custom built on a 527 action when I have completed the job I will put some pics up. What I can say is I had an Blaser LRS in .223 a little out of your range, but all of my rifles have worn cqb's including my 7mm rem mag, and they are the dog's what sits definetly go for one of them millwall. For what its worth view them like this standard remmy's are the ford escort of the gun world, lots of bits for them, sako & blaser the ferrari's of the gun world, tika are somewhere inbetween jag sort of level and howa & CZ the skoda's of this world, nobody likes to admit it they do build a good rifle for not alot of money. MarinePMI
Thanks Marine, I have been seeing more and more people over here talking about them with good things to say. Everyone that has an Accutrigger loves them. Paintballs on golf tees, That sounds like fun. Might have to try that with my niece abit later this month when she gets her first rifle as a birthday gift from me. And join in there with my LR 308. 308Panther Yeah, the kids (especially the younger ones, or when they were young I should say) like interactive targets, so paint balls, ice cubes (dyed w/ food coloring) and balloons tacked to a target keep them occupied. With the exception of the balloons, everything else is shoot and leave. Hey, I guess I'm doing my part to being "green"/eco-friendly...ahem..yeah...that's the ticket... "eco-friendly shooting". Shoots real bullets Ian, I wouldn't want to try and run away from a man cranking rounds through a straight pull let alone a semi-auto Pete. Vermincinerator
I had the pleasure of owning an Israeli 7.62 heavy barrelled FAL before the 1987 ban and fired several ARs. Straight pull just aint the same, just like muzzle loading pistols aint the same as cartridge ones. Ian
menial 1
We can only piss with the cocks we've got Ian, I was still riding 3 and 5 hour motorcycle enduros in 1987, but in 2009 the body says no, times have changed and so has the law, so we'll just have to enjoy what we're able to have I guess, whether it's what we'd really like or not. scotsgun
You're all mad ....it's got to be a Steyr SSG69 in .223. I have one in 308 but my mate just picked up one in .223 with quick release rings and a kahles 6x42 Z scope for £1200 new! For mod i'd slap on a Jet-z. I've always used T8's until a mate brought one along to a stalk...a really nice moderator worth the extra £100.
Streeker59
My hunting buddy has a southern gun co AR.. It looks the biz alright but it's not a patch on my T3 for accuracy and it has so much weight up front due to the light weight stock, shooting it in any position other than prone is a waste of time. To chamber a round he has to make sure that the bolt slams into the back of cartridge really hard or the bolt wont go into battery properly and as such wont fire.. Just what you dont need on a quite night when after charlie.. Sorry AR fans, for my money give me a quality bolt gun every time. Sako or Tikka.... You cant go wrong unless you have custom money.. jma
Hi, The problem with the T3(1 in 8 version) is the magazine. Heavier bullets(75,80s) have too large an OAL to fit the mag, if you are never going to shoot those weights then no problem. If in the future however you fancy shooting at 600+ you are going to be limited to single loading each round (a right pain) I used to shoot my old T3 varmint out to 900 using the above weight bullets with good results, i ended up modding the mag to take them (not for the faint hearted) I have never understood why tikka offer a rifle with 1 In 8 twist to enable heavier bullets to be used but the mag will not take them (someone somewhere dropped the ball on that one) Overall Tikkas are nice and shoot well but as others have said the stock is lacking, but as someone mentioned the remmy sps stock is even worse. I am currently looking for a .308 and i am pretty sure it will be a remmy, mainly for the large amount of upgrade oppurtunities available. regards jma
bradders
If in the future however you fancy shooting at 600+ you are going to be limited to single loading each round (a right pain) Why? Most people single load at the long line
jma
Why?Most people single load at the long line The T3 is not an easy rifle to single load; at least I never found mine to be so. I have never walked up and down century or stickledown to check what loading preference people have, so couldn't comment. regards jma
Redfox
I'm with streaker 59 and if you buy the t3 super varmint or tactical you get all the bells and whistles like adjustable cheek piece, ball handle bolt knob, picatinny rail, screwed muzzle ( for mod)etc and the tactical mag is made for the longer ( military) 223 rounds. Plus the accuracy is legendary, way to go. Redfox

MarinePMI
308P, Handled one of these yesterday and you (and this discussion) came to mind. It was a .308 version, but I was impressed with the upgrades/improvements. Clean box mag, and bolt release moved to under/in front of the trigger guard. The 20" bbl seemed to balance well too. Didn't get to tear it down to look at the "accu-stock" bedding blocks, but it proves interesting...
