Kipper
Has anyone used 300WM for Fopen ? I have a slot and considering it and passing my FTR rifle on to my son. I know 300WSM is common so maybe a variation is needed instead.
Chris-NZ
It has been used especially in the US but has very adherents. The reason for this is recoil. Very few shooters are able to tolerate extended fire with a round of that power without accuracy suffering. Just because someone can tolerate a grunty sporter for a few rounds doesn't mean they will be able to handle a WM or WSM in FO. But hey, you may be the rare exception. Kipper
We have a few WSM in our club, I may ask for a few round to test out to see the recoil in hand.

meles meles
Forgive us our misunderstanding (it's a small brain issue), but is F Open an unlimited class regarding rifle weight? If so, recoil needn't be an issue if the rifle is heavy...
The Gun Pimp
10 kilos and no muzzle brakes - if I remember.

dorg
I would strongly recommend you acquire the bullet tips first or pick the calibre by seeing what is available, the popular tips used by most 300wsm shooters are in very short supply.
