22rf Benchrest in the UK?

Gents,

just sorting out the NSRA 22rf Benchrest comps within and for my local club - all pretty straight forwards re. targets rules etc.

Thought I'd have a look at the larger picture re 22rf Benchrest in the UK and come up with 2 apparently different organisations:

Benchrest UK:  https://www.benchrestuk.com/

&

UKBR22:   https://ukbr22.org.uk/

Both shooting very similar targets.

Could someone explain the difference  - if it is a historically contentious thing then a PM me please?

Thanks Terry

In pretty much the same position and also found it confusing.

Three different sets of rules just to confuse everybody, the NSRA being the most different. Bench rest UK conform to THE WORLD & RIMFIRE & AIR RIFLE BENCHREST RULES 2013-2021.

UKBR 22 and Bench rest UK shoot very similar targets and have same categories for rifles I.e. sporter, LV, & HV. Major difference is UKBR sporter must be designed to be shoulder fired and have scope of max x12 magnification whereas Bench rest UK, any rifle under the weight limit, max x6.5 mag on scope. There are of course other subtle differences. Can also use rear rest which you cannot in NSRA. NSRA has different rules for front rests as well. Aaargh.

The NSRA have published clarification to their bench rest rules, though theses need to be read in conjunction with the full rules.

Many yeas ago the two organisations you were enquiring about were the same one UKBR but there was some argument about the running of the UKBR so they formed a break away organisation.

Now that's a very unusual occurrence in the shooting world 😉

Thank you for info
