Thinking about a "release agent" to make deposited carbon less likely to stick, might this stuff do the trick? As an aerosol, it should be easy to apply.

I use ceramic brake grease, designed to cope with high temperatures, it's what Wildcat recommend for their moderators, everything strips easy if you do it on a regular basis, just use a little smear and job done.
