Brillo
I've started load development for my 6.5 Creedmoor using H4350 as this seems to be the preferred powder, but I recall a post on here where RS62 was mentioned as a good option. QuickLOAD predicts very good results showing slightly higher MVs at similar pressures. Have any Creedmoor shooters tried it yet and if so how does it perform in reality? nicky.223
I haven't tried the powder your using in your creedmoor but I'm using ramshot hunter and I'm very impressed with that I'm using 140 grn amax with 41.5 grain and groups great

John MH
Don't discount N160, usually readily available anywhere and works well in .260 so should be thereabouts for the Creedmoor. N160 Data
Sherlock
Really interested in this thread - I have a Creedmore waiting for me once FAC variation is complete. I also have an unopened tub of Vit 160 - It would be great if this was the powder of choice for 140 grn range of pills. ATB S
Brillo
Thanks for the responses so far. In the tests I've carried out with 140 grain A-Max, 142 grain SMK and 139 grain Lapua bullets, the best powder to date is definitely H4350 and the sweet spot for all these bullets is around 42.2 grains. This gives a velocity of around 2840 fps from my Sassen 28" barrel. I did try 123 grain SMKs and also used RL17(RS60) which gave very high MVs. The 123 grain SMK gave good groups with speeds around 3000 fps, but I don't want to be there. And, although RL17 produced higher MV than H4350 I could not get the nice tight groups H4350 gave me. Baldie (Dave) on here has used N150 successfully so I'm going to try that with the bullet combo he used (Scenar 123 grains) and if I can get small amount of RS 62 to try I'll give the loads that triman has used. N160 seems a tad slow for the Creedmoor even though it's recommended for the .260, and QuickLOAD shows low MVs for it, but a mate uses it in his .284 so I might beg a small amount to try. As the man once said "don't knock it if you haven't tried it."
John MH
Remember speed is not everything.
Brillo
I couldn't agree more John. That's why I want to try a small quantity. The qualifier is that all the tests with RL17 with all the the bullets mentioned in my previous post produced much higher MVs but poorer groups. The predicted MVs for N160 are around 2720 fps but it will be interesting to see the real world speeds compared to precision.
activeviii
N150 was to slow. It grouped OK but felt I could have done better with powders Try h414. All the data is saying it will give as good, if not better than the h4350. 100% burn at max load and 2870fps were the h4350 was 96.8% with 2750fps
phaedra1106uk
I'm using Lovex S062.0 (got several Kg very cheap!) I already use it in my 260 (36gr 140gr bullet) and 308 (41gr 168gr bullet) with great results. A while back I asked Laurie about it and he recommended a starting load of 36-37gr using the same Nosler 140gr Custom Competition bullet, having had a chance to chronograph it these are the results, 36gr - 2535fps 37gr - 2583fps 38gr - 2674fps 39gr - 2724fps I worked up from 36gr in .5gr increments, at 39gr there are no signs of pressure that I can observe. I'm hoping to be able to get to a 100m tunnel range and spend some time comparing group sizes and also adjust the seating depth. Lovex S062.0 is slightly faster than Viht N140, roughly the same as their N540 and Alliants Reloader 15.
Brillo
Today I discovered that QuickLoad has a facility to give you powder performance comparisons for a given bullet. I found it by accident when looking for another option. Interestingly it showed that RS 70 is a good choice for the Lapua Scenar 139 bullet in terms of fill ratio, p-max and velocity. When you then run that separately you can then get good start and safe maximum loads. This is good for me because I have some of that powder for my .284. I've loaded some test loads with N150 (although it is supposed to give quite lowish velocities, if it's accurate up to 600 yards that's all I'm trying to achieve) and some with RS 70. I'll post the outcome as soon as I get a chance to shoot them.
