  1. It gets my vote from its no messing after loading, ive recently been looking at the lyman gen 6 but when you watch video on what you have to do the clear powder isnt worth it,if you only used one powder then it would be fine, it needs a far better system before I would buy one.i really like the electronic type scales but most serious shooters seem to doubt them as they can waver.as mentioned on another thread everything has tolerances.i used the rcbs starter scales since I started reloading approx 15 years ago, not sure what model they are, I recently chronied some loads that varied 4fps, I pinch and roll fingers letting kernels go, trickling isnt in my reloading system, I have got one but its an ornament.you have got to learn to trust these electronic gadgets, I will get one sooner or later as I am beyond bored of the beam scale.
  2. I didn't watch the 2nd video as I thought it was the same.very precise.you need one George.
  3. Nice set up.to speed things up can you throw say 24grs first then let the machine trickle the last 2.6grs.less wear on the machine then.
  4. I don't think anybody is disputing that it isn't a great hunting round.it was the mention of shooting deer like animals at a mile that did.personly I wouldn't have for hunting but I would get one if I could shoot it at bisley.
  5. definately not promoting it john.just making the point that it would be so easy too do.In something like the 338lm I would expect a big exit/damage with a 250 is grain ballistic tipped bullet.i seen a few big exits with 180gr sst's with a 30 -06.soon stopped using them.
  6. I had a brief conversation with the lady who deals with my variation and the 338 was for target only.the daft thing is who would know if you did take it across the fields.
  7. It's not me picking arguments.i don't argue with anybody else
  8. I would like to witness a cold bore shot at a mile inside a 10 inch kill zone of a red deer silohette target.unless there was not a breath of wind but still very unlikely I think.there is plenty of 338lm owners on ukv.maybe one of them could jump in.
  9. I would be very surprised if somebody would take the OP out to shoot a deer from a mile.
  10. I've a 338lm on my ticket but can't see myself bothering.if I could use it for deer would i change my mind.i doubt it.besides the sort of 338lm I would go for is not something you would want to lug around. I've only shot a couple of reds.the 6.5 06 and 140gr amax was more than adequate.they didn't take many steps and bullet exited.ive never found a bullet in a carcase. Hopefully if all goes well I am out after a stag or 2 this weekend coming with my 284.
  11. The Feo will say a 300 win mag is good for 1300yds.how much further do you intend shooting the deer from.... How do you answer that. It's a stupid answer but how would you reply.i think the good reason has gone past 30 cal. If you have ever fired one you would know why.ive knocked a fig11 down at 1800yds with one.you know you've fired it too.its not a cannon but it kicks
  12. Go on then grum.give me good reason to have a 338 lap mag for deer.i posted this earlier and it disappeared again.
  13. Give us a good reason for a 338 for deer then grum.
  14. One day Rodney we will be Millyonaires ??. Only fools n horses work.la la la la la la la la la la la ?
  15. Neil Mckillop bushed firing pin etc on my 47 when he rebarreled it.works perfect.
  16. be it a accuracy international or a remy copy in that drab olive or flat dark earth will always be my favorite looking rifle.the scope on this one looks like shorter mounts are needed.
  17. Nice collection of Accuracy Internationals there mac.who's a lucky boy then ??
  18. As you have noticed my handsome avatar photo I am afraid you maybe right.i am not very photogenic.the camera makes me a little neandathol looking.
  19. Oh I forgot I've not ordered mine yet as there is a kind gentleman on here thats offered to do mine .
  20. I carried a range card I made with data up to about 750yds.thinking back it was probaly done in low temps.i was waiting for Mr Fox to show and he did at 540yds.quickly dialed in an fired.missed over.saw dirt kick up.i went on bal cal and typed in current conditions and it put my poi 5 inches higher due to being one of the hottest evenings all year.i no longer keep a range card.ive been using my phone bal cal for months and months before every outing. I do the bal cal with current temps etc and do a screen shot on my phone.ive waited alot years for a shot like that.
