GRS BOLTHORN

Recommended Posts

For those that care, just got this yesterday. I have it in a 223 Tikka T3 with a 10 round mag and a single shot feeder, used it today.........perfect. The rifle just slipped in first time, had to play with the feeder a little to get it to fit right.

A lot of time has been spent designing this to get it right, and I think its 99% there.

I havent seen the Norway price but it wouldnt surprise me if it was dearer than the UK price.

For Tikka T3 fixed stock in .308 - are quoting £819 and in stock - you'd need to add shipping, but I still suspect that would be well below the UK price.

Bolthorn: Norway made,GRS quote 10,000 Nkr -around £813,plus shipping.Check out import VAT though-Norway isn't EEC so maybe 20%?

I've seen the stock for 1348 euros,and that's around £950,plus shipping.

Highland were suggesting £1099 recommended price.....don't know what this currently is in reality....

Any price not in sterling is subject to currency fluctuations-down or up,as with the dollar,as are £ prices for non UK made items.

It can be complicated,as supply isn't always immediate....

Hard price from - and in stock - can't get clearer than that.

I've bought from - many times, and often muilti-hundred pound orders, I've never been charged anything on import.

Norway is part of the formet EFTA agrement, but non-EU - I'm not 100% sure where this puts it in terms of postal imports, but as I say I've never been charged. Bought a Magnetospeed V3 from - in the Autumn, saved quite a bit on UK prices even after shipping and no charges.

Robcf "I'm not 100% sure...Can't be clearer than that"...and all I said was check first, lest there be a surprise, not that there must be-let's hope the Gov.UK "Imports from outside the UK" on EFTA in the "Community Transit" section are interpreted in our favour,as has been your experience:

"Community Transit..allows customs and excise duties to be suspended until goods either reach their point of destination in the community,or are exported out of it."

There may have been a small limit exemption, but probably way below £800;your experience seems encouraging, despite what the quote seems to imply.Hence 'check'.

If you imported goods from Norway it seems to me you are suggesting (or I would) its under the £400 (5000Nkr) limit, therefore it may well have been listed as a "gift", and if it was I would not advertise it to much on open conversation sites,

Personally, by experience, its far too expensive on shipping from Norway before you start nowdays, so that can be a bind on the OAL price. But Central Europe is very competitve and very very cheap on shipment costs so that can help considerably. I assume soon we will all go the same system as the new USA one where the taxes are collect at source, cutting out RMG collecting another £12 for admin on paperwork...

Heres two sites to help confirm the legal process and costings of import/export that I found helpful, the duty one only lets you have a few free hits BTW.
