100 Yard Benchrest - 6th April

Recommended Posts

Firstly, thank you to all those that turned up for the 1st shoot of the year.

It was great to see 18 shooters taking the plunge including 2 new faces from UKV (Spud and Brillo).

Everyone seemed to enjoy the day, we saw something of a rarity at Diggle....... Sunshine.

Yes I had to get the mirage band out on the rifle, something not usually needed at Diggle, especially given the snow of only 2 weeks ago.

Notable points of interest, well Vince wining is a good one, the 2 Gary's have got new boomsticks and are using them to good effect, oh and the best one Graeme Francis's expert display of dog handling of what could only be described as a cross between a beagle and a Shetland pony.

I have attached the results as usual, for those that are interested the next dates in the diary are

600 Yard BR - Saturday 27th April

100 Yard BR - Saturday 4th May

1000 Yard BR - Sunday 5th May

Diggle Egg Shoot - Monday 6th May

To those of you thinking about coming, please ask Spud or Brillo, I am sure they will confirm it is fun and we are a helpful bunch who will make you more than welcome.

All the best

Bruce

To anyone thinking about trying this sport I say give it a go. I had a thoroughly enjoyable day and I'm hooked. How can I hide my next purchase from my wife? -_-

Many thanks to everyone for welcoming me, and giving so much advice, especially Vince and Bruce to mention just two. I'm suffering from information overload but it will all sink in over time.

I met a great bunch of guys and can't wait until the 600 yard shoot on the 27th. In fact I'm developing loads for it now....

Cheers

I fancy a day out on the 27th, but as I have never shot in a formal rifle competition could someone please answer a few questions:

- Do you need to be a member?

- I assume expanding ammunition is not allowed?

- Will a factory rifle with a bipod and rear bag suffice?

- How many rounds should you bring?

- What else should/do you need to bring?

You are very welcome to come along. Be at Diggle for about 10.00am Postcode OL3 5LB

You do not need to be a member

Bullets designed to expand are not permitted

Bi-pod and rear bag is fine - most start off shooting a factory rifle like this.

Bring about 30 rounds

What else? Lunch!

me and martin will have to come to keep you to in order :P

you can give that .20 a run out -see how accurate it really is.

martin can bring his 6ppc if he can get all the cobwebs off it.

I don't know why all you wussies are making this fuss about these huge groups shot with fancy rifles. Only the other day I saw a film of Kim Jong-un, Party Chairman, Great and Loved Leader, resident god .... VC and 46 bars .... etc etc of North Korea shoot a piddling little one-hole group with a semi-auto pistol. AND ..... I'll bet it was his first ever pistol shoot too!

I think Vince should extend a warm and fraternal invitation from the Free Socialist Republic of Diggle to Chairman Jong-un to compete in a BR match - if he can spare bthe time from planning all-out thermonuclear war on South Korea, the USA, Japan, the Isle of Man, and others - and show us how it's done. This would be in addition to the previous open invitation after Stoneleigh to the supplier of 1-inch grouping at 1,000 yd tactical rifles. Think what a weekend that would be, Kim slapping everybody's arses on Saturday, and whatisname doing likewise on Sunday.

PS well done to all these people who turned up and shot real groups in real rifles - and some great ones too. I know how difficult it is to get below 0.25-inch (or even half-inch sometimes!) on Diggle's A-Range.

Many thanks for the information, just one last question are moderators allowed? Or should I zero my rfile without prior?

you can shoot with or without a mod.

try the rifle without see if theres a accuracy gain.
