sean c
Hi All, After browsing the UKV shoot pics Ive really started to like the Multicam pattern over DPM so i fancy getting a coat in the pattern. I've done some searching on various sites but i cant really find what im after. I'm looking for something on the lines of a deerhunter montana jacket i.e. with the removable fleece inside but in the above pattern. Anybody got any ideas where i can find one if not any recommendations for a alternative. Cheers, Sean.

terryh
Also look under the Polish 'Gromcam'which is similar. e.g. http://www.combatservicesupport.co.uk/product/12778/camogrom_multicam_multiterrain/camogrom_multicam_multi_terrain_field_parka_smock.html Brgds Terry
LONG RANGE CAPT
Hi Sean, Well worth getting, point to note as of next year all DPM stops getting issued and is completely replaced by MTP. I rate MTP seems to blend in well. Kind Regards Rob

brown dog
Sean, Yup, multicam is an invisibility cloak. Why it took so long for us to get something that isn’t too dark is beyond me; I and many others have spent 20+ years saying ‘DPM is too dark'. At distance you may as well be wearing black as the dark colours ‘blob out’. (It’s great if you want to hide in a holly bush or fir tree though!). Standard desert cam is more effective on grassland. All that had to be done to standard DPM was to take the black and dark brown off it and replace it with lighter colours. They looked at that but went for the multicam; clever for a change because it’s there and it works; stupid because we managed to pay crye a licence fee for our own version –don’t understand how someone can ‘own’ a set of colours – nor do the Poles Anyway, if you’re looking for something more technical than a cotton smock, and something that looks a little less like you're about to storm something, look at(now, outdoor coat fetishists, don’t follow these links if you don’t want a cash haemorrhage) snugpak. They now do all their softies and pile jackets in multicam: http://www.snugpak.com/index.php?MenuID=93-99&ItemID=107 If you want the full mountain technical ‘ish’ and massive cash haemorrhage; look at arcteryx leaf http://leaf.arcteryx.com/Product.aspx?EN/Mens/Combat-Jacket-Patterned---BERRY you can find it in UK http://www.levelpeaks.com/ If you're happy with wetproof, breathable and a bit crunchy; google “ECWCS gen 2”

Ronin
Arc-teryx clothing is good kit. Not got any of the LEAF gear but have a few basic items - T shirts, fleece etc - good hardwearing stuff. If spendy....

John MH
Just been looking on there following BD's ECWCS suggestion. It looks like what im after. Beware, they are not the genuine USGI article but a copy probably made in Asia much like the True Spec stuff. Genuine USGU ECWCS and APECS is Goretex. brown dog
Beware, they are not the genuine USGI article but a copy probably made in Asia much like the True Spec stuff. Genuine USGU ECWCS and APECS is Goretex. Just want to point out that I linked mentioned the ECWCS Gen 2. Things may well have changed since I last walked around a p/x clothing store, but I remember brands from US Cavalry like tru-spec and propper as being what was on sale. Left me not really sure what is 'US Issue'; as they seem to buy all their clothing with an allowance. [For eg: Propper ECWCS Gen 2 Goretex US made, for $20 less they offer the same coat non-US made: https://www.epropper.com/products/57/productgroup/8/Gen2_Parka_-_Made_in_USA.htm ] Regardless of that, I'm not sure what credibility 'issue' bestows; Brit 'issue' waterproof anyone? MVP not goretex and I doubt it's made in UK. Rather like civvies paying over the odds for anything 'issue' it's all stuff that's been made by the lowest bidder, it's naive to think that 'issue' equates to 'quality' . Remember the furore when the US changed the Army beret colour to black (previously the preserve of Rangers) in order that they could buy them from China? 'issue' means little. Do I wear my issue MVP waterproof Hill stalking? No

No The Propper ECWCS and APECS stuff is usually Gore-Tex and carries "Gore-Tex" TM labels, the budget "True-Spec" MVP stuff is like our DPM Issue shite. Basically if its really cheap its not Gore-Tex.
