  1. Well at least I've got a R which I can now see! Looking forward to checking it out. Perhaps Sightron etched them in dark gold colour originally to be more discrete for hunting reasons........ but it's not a hunter's scope šŸ¤”. Who knows why šŸ˜ƒ
  2. Well here's the result using a little car touch up paint, a small amount of acetone, a few ear buds, paper towel, half an hour of precious time & bit of patience. Hopefully I won't end up turning the wrong way next time šŸ˜ƒ
  3. I have a newer 8-32 with white markings and that's fine. I'll be trying the paint and wipe off technique šŸ˜Æ. As you said, the replacement ones are rediculously priced....... for a cap!
  4. This relates to a Sightron Siii 10-50x60 with exposed tactical turrets with orangey/brown etched markings, but I know there are other Sightron models that use this same colour for marking. I find the markings nigh impossible to see most of the time especially as they are on a black background. So without buying a new set of turrets in etched white has anyone successfully had a go at permanently over-colouring these markings in white or other brighter colour?

  7. Savage Model 12 F/TR in .308 30ā€ Barrel, 1:12ā€ twist, built on Anschutz rail, Tier One 20moa picatinny rail Approaching 800 rounds. Extensive load data for 155gr Lapua Scenar and Berger 185gr Juggernaut. A few scratches around the stock near the bolt area and some on the barrel (look at the pics) but does not effect performance. Selling because Iā€™m left handed and want a left bolt. Ā£990 for rifle and tier one pic rail only. Doesn't include scope, rings, back bag or bipod for that price.
  8. Nice to hear your daughter is showing interest and promise in this fantastic sport. I introduced my son (12) to my local club (Diggle) late last year, he was a little overwhelmed by it all at first and a bit apprehensive about taking part, especially as there's very few young shooters out there. But thankfully he now enters the F-class comps along with me, albeit in the F-MIL category at the moment which suits him down to the ground as we use a 6.5 Creedmore with a muzzle break so there's very little recoil. On his third comp he outshot me and that wasn't a fluke as he did it again at 800yrds a few weeks back. So it looks like the Creedmore has a new steerer from now on and I'll move over to a .308 F/TR. Going back to your original point about caliber's, I'm also hoping to move him onto F/TR later this year but like yourself, I'm not sure which option to take - .223 or .308. Finally, regarding scopes - I have two Sightron SIII, a 8-32 and a 10-50 and I can't fault them for the price. The only niggle I have is with the 10-50, it has a rather stiff zoom but was sorted by sticking a 3D printed throw lever on it. Hope your daughter loves it šŸ‘
  9. Hi Brillo, would you be interested in a px with my Vortex Viper HSLR 6-24 x 50 XLR, FFP? cash adjustment your way of course?
  10. I want to load up some 240gr GM hardcast RNFP for a 44 magnum underlever. It's got to reach out to 400yrd. Has anyone used H110 or viht N110 behind hard cast bullets, not jacketed? My normal load is 7.6-8gr viht n340 which is fantastic at shorter distances (<100yrd) but I don't think it would cut the mustard at 400yrd. Any thoughts on this one ? šŸ¤”
  11. My .44Mag medium load: 7.6gr Viht N340 / GM Hardcast 240gr RN FP. Lovely in a Chiappa Alaskan Take-down
  12. I appreciate all of the above comments and most certainly will be trying the Berger 185 Juggernauts.........when they become available, but for the moment I'm going to stick with the 155gr Scenar-L which I've gathered some good results from so far. I achieve 3000fps+ from the 155's but this was at 46.8gr N140 and leaving noticeable ejector indents. A safe and accurate load for my Savage FTR seams to be somewhere around 44.5 - 45.0 of N140 with a speed of around 2910fps on the magneto speed so I'm going to stick with this for now and play around with it. However, even at this load with no flattening of the CCI 450 mag primers they are still cratering and slightly flowing up into the firing pin. I'm hoping this load will be good for up to 800 yards and possibly 1000......we'll see šŸ™‚ Thanks for all the valuable info
