  1. I went the high-tech route: composite. At least that's what I think 18mm ply from Wicks is called🤣 A forstner bit cuts a nice flat bottomed hole.
  2. Hi back at you Bob, welcome😃
  3. Not N140/150 but I get 2600 fps with N540 1:11 twist 24" Pretty good at 1000yds
  4. I have 6 Mrad of rail on my .338LM. I'm looking for a scope that will give me adjustment out past 2000yds. My PST was maxed out at 1mile and I held a further 3 Mrad ! (+18 up from 100yd zero). The Razor, with another 6 Mrad in the mount, will be more capable provided the spec is correct!! (Having checked out Youtube etc it would seem correct). I'll report when Vortex get back to me.
  5. Somethings wrong here: I was comparing mil scopes and they are - PST Gen2 5-25 x50 is 20Mil elevation Razor Gen2 4.5 - 27x56 is 28.5 Mil elevation (hence why I wanted one) Moa scopes are, as you point out 70 & 71 moa. This is odd indeed and I'm emailing Vortex for an explanation
  6. Both good, the Razor has quite a bit more elevation adjustment (I swapped a PST for a Razor). The Razor is also FFP and quite a bit more expensive.
  7. Ah yes, but he goes on to say that "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others" Thankfully we live in a representative democracy, if we gave every individual an unmediated vote (Athens circa 400BCE or, more currently BGT/Bake Off) we would be killing each other and have no public services. 8. Well done, looking good. For the time being I'm providing PID duties with my No.1 eyeball (cheapskate me!). It'll be good to hear your experience regarding case life and performance down the line. I've found using very hot water to dump the cases into is very effective at removing any salt carryover (I use a large bucket, full up, and kept well away from the salt bath).

Bryan Litz makes a compelling argument against poor commercial practice and hype. All I can say is '4DOF' gave better results than 'Shooter' for me out to 1mile. I intend to try 'Applied Ballistics"

    Not just Hornady bullets https://www.hornady.com/team-hornady/ballistic-calculators/#!/4dof

Hornady have their "4DOF" calculator that has doppler radar drag data for their own (obviously) and a selection of competitor bullets. I tabulated 4DOF, Shooter and actuals at Eskdalemuir last month. Using their predictions worked very well for the 300gn Lapua .338 out to 1 mile and a lot better than "Shooter" with G7 data. The .308 178gn ELD-M was similarly accurate for me.
  12. Spuhr: yep, good mounts indeed. Why buy a top-dollar scope and stick it in cheap mounts? Seems daft but I've seen it quite often
  13. I think that's the same issue as SMLE had with his Creedmore
  14. out of interest what primers ? I would think a minor issue if it doesn't occur again
  15. Sodium NITRITE It's not a minor ingredient, it's 45%. No, no problem and I've ordered twice and I'm a private individual.
  16. For the small batch quantities I anneal, I keep an eye on the temperature and turn the 'stat up/down as required to maintain temperature on my Lyman pot. I don't find that the temperature varies much to be honest even when doing a 100 off .338 cases. I was going to make a PID controller but I'm not sure it's worth the effort. I did a comparison with calibrated pliers (😉) too, pretty much got the results as you and Pinkfoot report and easily as good as my gas-flame rotary annealing rig but without the faffing about getting the flame "just right" with Tempilaq.
  17. Thanks for the offer but I've already sorted an alternative Cheers Andy
