  1. Sorry to clarify, I was hoping for powder charge, velocity achieved and COAL (I know you’ve stated 20 thou from the lands). Thanks
  2. Ammo: Sako Super hammerhead 150gr - £30 each Hornady Superformance 150gr SST £35 Hornady Whitetail 150gr Interlock £25 Face to face from either, Redhill Surrey, Camberley Surrey, NRA Bisley. Near or around Tadley / Basingstoke - occasionally in Barry Wales.
  3. Hello all, I hope you can help, and sought your experience please. I am due to move shortly where I shall take back ownership of my shotguns & firearms. They are currently stored at an RFD after I lost everything I own in a storage fire earlier this year. In previous years they were just covered under my home insurance. What do people do for gun cover, a specialist company / cover or use their home insurance? If so, does anyone have any specific recommendations? These days I own several fairly expensive rifles / shotguns / scopes I want to make sure I do this right. When you add up everything you own in regards to shooting including equipment its quite scary expensive. I don't wish to be caught short should the worse happen, learning from previous experience. Thanks in advance, Mark
  4. Have you had any experience with them? I.e how fussy they are to load / jump tolerant etc?
  5. Type A, 8-11” in excellent condition. £200 Posted via RMSD. Does not come with a spigot.
  6. While the usefulness of the S&B FMJ can be debated.... I’m not a huge fan. What I can say though, the soft point hunting version of this ammo in either 131gr or 140gr is brilliant for the price! The soft point groups sub half MOA groups in both of my 6.5 rifles and haven’t met a person who’s rifle it doesn’t like. It’s only OK speed Wise and pretty poor BC but can be expected for a SP round. However for hunting applications it doesn’t matter. Inside 150-170m it’s ballistics is very similar to anything else. Pretty much the limit of where I take deer anyway. Expands great and I’ve had clean kills. For £20 a box or less for hunting ammo I can’t praise the S&B SP enough.
  7. Lots of good advice here. Just for your info, if you wanted a proof barrel...... might be worth contacting Paddy Dane. He spun up my one for my AI rifles. Proof wont shoot any better than another top quality barrel but the weight saving is looovely. I have my stock .308 barrel. A 26” 6.5CM steel barrel sourced from SS when purchased the rifle along with an 18” 6.5CM proof barrel.
  8. What’s your barrel diameter? Fits 3/4” to 1 1/4”
  9. Only just remembered this thread. Was going through some boxes today and found one of them. If anyone still wants it let me know.
  10. Mod - A-Tec Wave. Light, cheap (£35) and works. If you got the 16" variant, I would consider the Wildcat Panther as you have room for it to reflex down. As for ammo, not really. Both CCI Mini-mags & subs worked for me. Relatively cheap and available locally for me. I tried SK match ammo, but it being covered in waxy residue it gummed up the action very quickly. I tried a friends Winchester Subs once and didn't perform well. Rodger as SYSS also recommend CCI & Eley subs if I recall.
  11. If I can recall it’s around a 1” group at 75yards. But obviously that’s only using CCI non match ammo. Trouble is any wind and or the extreme spread of rimfire ammo something can go amiss fairly easily. Magpul / volquartsen is a great combo indeed. Being light, semi auto & accurate makes it a great tool. I just run a red dot sight on mine now. My thoughts are if the main use is around 50 yards with occasional stretching out to 100yards you can’t go wrong with the Rimfire Magic. If your consistently shooting at 100yards and require the best accuracy for the small kill zone that is a rat you might be better off with the bolt action. My vote..... have both semi & bolt action!
  12. I did when I first got it, at 100m but this was just off a backpack with no bipod. So groups were “ok” but wasn’t a reflection of the rifle just of my performance. I can’t remember what it grouped like. Now it’s zeroed in at 75yards I leave it at that, any shooting at 100 or beyond is steel plinking rather than vermin. I might be using it in a few weeks if you want me to attempt a best effort group at 100m or are you planning on making a decision soon?
  13. Yep got the Magpul stock. I like it and get on well with it. Got the higher comb set. 12.5 just protrudes past the barrel channel on the stock and look cool with a mod fitted. Bare in mind only an end of barrel mod works with this set up not a reflex if that changes anything? Paired with a A-tec wave which is cheap and works well. It gets used for target, plinking & vermin.
  14. You looking at 12 or 16” variant of the volquarsten. I can never make up my mind if I made the right call. Accuracy is there on the 12.5” & with a mod fitted its so short and pointable. However velocities will be better with 16” and might offer you flatter shooting? I tired some match ammo, but it tends to have a waxy coating on which gums up the 10-22 very quickly. In all fairness the CCI groups so well I don’t see the point. I either use mini-mags or Subsonic HP. Sorry I haven’t used the segmented but would be surprised if it didn’t perform.
  15. I’m extremely happy with my Rimfire magic with 12.5” Volquarsten barrel. I can’t remember what it groups at 100m but it certainly doesbone hole groups at 50m and IMO had comparable bolt gun accuracy. Whats your intended purpose for the rifle?

  17. I have both ZP5 & PM 5-25 scopes. You are splitting hairs between optical quality on these scopes. I think choice would come down to other areas and price / availability. Both have seriously good glass! The PM2 tips it for resolution but only by a nats cock. Brightness, edge to edge the same through my eyes. When conditions are good, the Minox looks lightly better to me, anything other than perfect the S&B takes the win (only just) MR5 ret is great, and better than the MSR. But I would have the MSR2 which isn’t available on the ZP5. Turrets. I prefer the S&B only because I want Locking turrets. If I was going a standard double turn PM2 I would prefer the ZP5 turrets. Both track excellently with no issues. Looks are subjective. Weight & size very similar. My 2p you can’t go wrong with either. If you were going new, the ZP5 would be cheaper so I would say get that. If you could pick up a good price PM2 with the turrets & Ret of your choosing at a good price. Consider that. As mentioned. The ZP5 can hold its own up with the best for a cheaper price.
