That’s a thing of beauty 😁 and that’s an interesting idea with the calibre. I was wanting to have my 243 re barreld to 6xc with prl in mind but when i spoke to the FAO last week I was told it’s looking like September before they will be doing variations again 😕

Contact baldie on here I’m sure he imports them or something similar. Or you can buy ready made br/dasher magazines from MDT in Canada, they ship direct to your front door and are around £60 if I remember rightly but they are 12 round mags.

If you check out Ralph bardenhorst’s FB business page I’m sure he built all 3 lengths for a customer.

I believe there were 3 different actions lengths Short, standard, and magnum for the big game calibers.

I’d like to use as many British components for my build as possible obviously the action is Remington but everything else I will try and source in this country.

The reason I ask is I rang around a few of the big names a few months back about having my rem customised and most refuse to use sassen and had a very low opinion of them.

What barrel contour and length would you guys who shot this years recommend ? And would a sassen barrel be ok or would a Bartlein or one of the other top US barrels be needed ?

Thanks for all the replies, I think I’ll keep shooting factory rifles for a bit longer and then either go full custom or get an AI. ive priced up a full semi custom build using a blueprinted remmy and it works out about the same as an ACCURACY International AT.

Has anyone had any work done by J R firearms ?

I think the closest gunsmith to me is JR firearms any recommendations ?

Looking for advice on who does the best job I’ve heard there are a few cowboys that don’t do a proper job. After doing a bit of research on here and other forums it seem having a custom rifle built can be a bit of a minefield.
