  1. I usually use a roll of lining paper and attach my A4 targets or my stick on shoot N See. Can I control the auto target system?? As in move the targets back and forward electronically??
  2. Hi folks, Has anyone any experience of using this range? It doesn't give details of the rules, but I'm presuming it will be common sense and a look at your FAC. Any constructive knowledge of experience is appreciated. Cheers Chaz.
  3. Hi folks, As above, I'm thinking of buying the Frankford Arsenal case prep centre with case trimmer. Does anyone out there use this make and model, and if so, what do you think of it? Some constructive opinions based on experience appreciated. Cheers Chaz.
  4. As above, I've bought some new PPU brass, but it's so shiny I can't tell if it has been annealed at the factory. And all my research just gives people's opinions of the PPU brass.... And just for the record, I've been using, and reloading PPU brass for some time, and get great results. As long as I anneal the brass every 3 to 4 shots. Is there anyone out there that could answer my annealing question....?? Cheers Chaz.
  5. Hi, I have a 6.5 Creedmoor. And I use Viht N150 and 130 grain Sierra TMK bullets, with Lapua brass. And I get great results! Including with Viht N150 and Lapua 130 grain OTM bullets. I'll see what quick load see's. Cheers. Chaz.
  6. Sorry, I should have said. I'd prefer soft point as the ground is very stoney, where I mainly shoot. As for purpose, it would be a bit of both really, so hitting plates at distance, and vermin control. Livens seems to be pretty good on price and not to fair away. But as usual the cheap supposed good stuff is out of stock. I may buy a few different boxes, to see what my gun likes. It wasn't particularly happy on Geco FMJ. I'm currently trying to work out what it cost to reload my rounds. I've worked out everything bar the cost of brass. I use a bit of everything. But I bought a box of new Lapua .223 brass, around 6 shots ago. I've not added the cost of all the kit, as I will always reload for my .6.5CM, as it's generally always target shooting. Anyone know the formula for working out the cost of brass after 6 shots?? It's pickling my head!!
  7. Folks, I'm, Sick of reloading .223. What are my options?? Just looked at the prices of .223 Rem ammo, and it, like everything has gone right up! I noticed You could buy boxes of 50 Geco ammo, some time ago... And it was cheap! Is that still the case, and if so, where, and for how much? That's as in buy bulk boxes no more than 50 to start... Cheers. Chaz.
  8. Thanks Martin. I appreciate it hasn't been long.... But I thought I would of had a few more answers than that. I'll pop the post on PW, and see if any more pop up. Cheers. Chaz.
  9. Hi Folk! As above really, I intend on upgrading my powder dispenser. I've kind of made my mind up on a Lyman GEN 6 Compact, good reviews.... Does anyone else use one, and if so what do you think about them, compared to my current Hornady Lock-N-Load Auto Charge. Works great just feel like a change.... Any constructive advice appreciated... Chaz.
  10. No idea what the bolt release issue is, but I've had the Beretta A302 semi auto for over 10 years now. Still going strong and never had a issue... Good luck with the sale! 👍
  11. Hi folks, I'm currently thinking of buying a moderator wrap of some description, but I've not made my mind up yet.... I presume the main benefit is heat mirage. Is that right? And if so, is there any other benefit?? Bearing in mind, that currently I only shoot paper targets on my own, on open land out to around 400/500 yards, to see how small a group I can achieve.... I'd appreciate some constructive advice..... Regards. Chaz....
  12. That's good news then Rich, as I have several hundred 53 grain V-Max, and around 2/3 of a 2 Kilo tub of Viht N133, and 1/2 a 2 kilo tub of Viht N133.... As for the heavy stuff, 143 grain 6.5 Cal, I'm currently using Viht N150, which could be better..... But the N150 works great with Sierra TMK 130's. Cheers. Chaz.
  13. Apologies, I should have made it more clear. It's for long range plinking. And shooting small groups. Thanks for the advice though. Chaz.
  14. I'm after some constructive opinions folks. For quite a few years now I've used Hornady 55 grain V-Max Bullet heads in my .223 Rem with 25.1 grains of Vhit N135. It's been my go to load out to 300 yards, and has a muzzle energy of 3200 +/- FPS. The BC is 0.255, and sectional density of .157. It has served me well and has given me great accuracy over the years. However it is a flat base bullet. I'm thinking of developing a load with Vhit N133, (Which I already have) using 53 grain V-Max Bullet heads. Mainly as the BC is higher, at .290. The sectional density is .151. (Very little difference....) But the 53 grain also has a boat tail. So I'm hoping for a little better accuracy, concentricity, and slightly higher fps . Not that the 55 grain is particularly bad in all the previous aspects when using the 55 grain V-Max heads. So should I stick with the 55 Grain V-Max, Or hopefully, (after some load development) get maybe better accuracy, with a better BC, and slightly higher fps? I'd appreciate some constructive advice..... Regards. Chaz....
  15. I called the Firearms dept yesterday for an up-date. I spoke to a very helpful person called "Alan". He said they were concentrating on completing applications that are likely to run out if not done quick enough. He went on to say, they had mostly managed to keep on top of the renewals, but unfortunately some had expired for a short time and the applicants firearms had to be lodged. I explained it was not all my fault, but ultimately, still my responsibility... I explained that my application was complete, along with references, and a Doctors medical report. He said he would be working from home on Monday, but to call the Office for an update and to make enquiries reference lodging my firearms. However, I received a call from "Alan" this morning, praising me for how complete my renewal application was, and as a result he was able to complete it this morning, and allowing for postal strikes, I should have it tomorrow!! What a great bloke! I intend on getting a thank-you card and a big box of chocolates and dropping them off at their office in the next few days. Thanks for all the replies folks.
  16. A question for the RFD's When the Police say I must "Lodge my guns at a dealer". How does that work exactly, and what is the likely cost to lodge them and then get them back say 2 months later?? I obviously know it means all my guns, mods and ammo go to a dealer. I mean more about paperwork, and cost.... Thanks.
  17. If there's one thing I learnt from being in the Police. You may have a huge pile of paperwork, in order of urgency.... But when It comes down to it, he who shouts loudest gets heard! So I intend to do plenty of that at the right departments..... And that will not be the Firearms Dept.. Chaz.
