  1. A bit more weirdness!! Ran some loads through yesterday on my club's day out at Otterburn. 37gr of N150, twice fired Starline small primer brass, Murom KVB223M small rifle magnum primers and Nosler 140gr Custom Competition bullets set at 2.804" (30thou" jump). Grouping was fine but weirdly I got a lot of case sooting, but at the head (rim and extractor groove) not the neck. No signs of pressure, no primer flattening or cratering, smooth bolt lift etc.. I know from comparing Vhit's data (which now says it's for small primer cases) that my velocities are quite a bit lower than theirs, so, is the load too low and giving poor case obturation?
  2. Switching not really an option as I bought 10,000 of them I do have 6,000 of the Magtech 7-1/2 small rifle primers I can also try.
  3. Well this is weird. I previously ran a series of test loads using StarLine small primer rifle brass with N150 and 140gr Nosler Custom Competition bullets and Federal #205 primers. The results showed a marked drop in velocity from Vhit's published loads, as expected. Last night I ran the same loads using Murom KVB223M primers in place of the Federals Well this is weird. I previously ran a series of test loads using StarLine small primer rifle brass with N150 and 140gr Nosler Custom Competition bullets and Federal #205 primers. The results showed a marked drop in velocity from Vhit's published loads, as expected having read Lauries input on the subject. Last night I ran the same loads using Murom KVB223M primers in place of the Federals and got very strange results. I was expecting an increase in velocity but ir reality got a decrease!, now maybe my chrono was on the wrong sensitivity setting (Magnetospeed Sporter) as it failed to register about half of the shots, I'll load more rounds and re-run the test again. Here's the results. Powder (gr) Federal Murom 36.0 2528 2482 36.5 2560 2510 37.0 2585 2565 37.5 2606 2584
  4. Velocities were about 100fps lower than Vihts published data for the 139 Scenar (nearest weight). Laurie Holland has a few posts on here about the effects of small primer brass on velocities which are well worth a read (as is everything else he posts!!). The Nosler 140s came out at a 5 shot average of 2496fps, I've got some Murom KVB223-M magnum primers being picked up for me at the Shooting Show so I'll start load development again with those and chrono a few loads next week if I get the chance. Seating depth with the Nosler 140s is 2.317" and 2.327" to give a 30 or 20 thou" jump, measured to the ogive, COAL is 2.815" or 2.825"
  5. W R Shiesssport in Germany or Hunting-Sport SARL in Luxembourg would be a good place to start, both are on eGun.de but will give slightly better prices dealing with them directly. https://www.vdb-waffen.de/de/mitglieder/waffen-fachgeschaefte/wr-schiesssport_ug_ruediger_wastl.html https://www.hunting-sport.com/ Edinburgh Rifles do trips up and down the country and will meet up/drop off stuff to save postage. https://www.thestalkingdirectory.co.uk/showthread.php/144619-reloading-supplies-delivery-window Each to their own on reloading as you say, just wanted to show the options, local RFD is selling Hornady for £190/100, that's around 4x the reloaded cost!.
  6. How is it mates rates?, I'm not getting any "deals" all those prices are what the suppliers charge to everyone. https://www.thestalkingdirectory.co.uk/showthread.php/133028-Lapua-Brass-New https://www.hps-tr.com/en/murom-primers-3 https://www.1967spud.com/shop/vhitavuori/vihtavuori-n100-series-rifle-powders-bulk-3-5-kg-lots/ Just checked with my local guy and his 3.5Kg tubs have gone up, to £236
  7. Here we go again, so exactly what grey imported components would they be then? Cases, £96/100 Edinburgh Rifles Primers £23/1000 HPS-TR Powder, local supplier (Bowtec) £230 for 3.5Kg Bullett €290/1000 delivered from any number of suppliers in Europe
  8. You can load your own higher quality ammunition using better components pretty close to that price. Lapua srp case (assuming a life of 10x) 00.95 Murom small Rifle Primer 00.023 140gr Nosler Custom Competition bullet 00.27 35.5gr N150 00.16 Total £11/20
  9. Picked mine up on the 15th, stuck my Sightron SIII 10-50x60 on it and bore sighted it at my club, ran a few subsonics down to check and they were within 1/2" of where my Ruger RPR puts them. Range last Sunday morning, few clicks left and up and spot on, everything going into 1" squares after I got used to the trigger (previously shooting my T3x CTR so almost chalk and cheese!). So far extremely happy, much better fit & finish (no pun intended) than the Ruger, just a shame they stiffed everyone outside the US by supplying only 1 mag instead of the 3, not to worry I'll pick some up next trip over.
  10. If you have the 750F green labelled bottle then no, it's fine, just use it on the neck above the shoulder area. Best place is a dab on the inside of the case neck so it's not directly exposed to the flame. You'll have to run a wire cleaning brush (using a drill is the easiest) inside the neck afterwards as it's a bit of a monkey to get off when it's baked on
  11. You can't tell a case is correctly annealed by the colour of the brass, yes it's an indication but it varies too much between makes, batches and even the cleanliness of the case being annealed. Tempilaq is a much more accurate indicator, I also use the 650F (Yellow) in much the same place, starting about 1/8" below the shoulder, this (from the testing I have done) changes colour when the neck reaches 700f-750f
  12. Looks very similar, case is coming off the extractor claw but not being pushed out by the ejector pin, next time it does it look at the bolt face and see if the pin is still inside the bolt not sticking out as it should be after unloading a round. Take the bolt out and try pushing the pin in and out with a pencil tip or other small object and see if it moves smoothly.
  13. Mine wouldn't eject after a few rounds through it, stripped the bolt and fount the ejector pin was as rough as a badgers rear end and was jamming. Spent 10mins smoothing and polishing it and no more problems. Just to add that after eventually getting a replacement firing pin (took about 3 months!) no more light primer strikes

  15. Nope, it's down, http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/www.targetshooter.co.uk
  16. Any simple EU/UK shaver adaptor will do to use with the supplied PSU, it draws less than .2Amps from the mains, the mains side doesn't need to be 2A.
  17. Yes, 308, 8mm, 30-06, 260, 6.5 etc. have all worked fine with the 308 disk, I ran some 300aac through without a problem and they use the same case as 223 but you may be better off getting a second disk with the smaller holes so the cases centre better on the turning motor
  18. This is mine, not great quality video but you can see how it works (very nicely!), https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/103575967/FBUK/High%20Res.mp4 Lubo in in Bulgaria, mine took about 10 days from order to delivery, fully tracked all the way, excellent service
  19. I'll assume the one with the tray was mine Arrived last week (delivered to the wrong house so thanks DPD!!) Set it up with a couple of minor problems, the disks wouldn't index at the correct position above the case rotation point. Simple enough to sort, removed the disks (and cut my finger on a sharp edge) and loosened off the collar it sits on, moved it a bit further around the motor shaft and all sorted. As I said, minor point and given the whole thing was only £170 including shipping from Bulgaria it's excellent value Onto the good bit To be honest there's nothing to report!! it does exactly what it's supposed to do, set the time to 8 seconds (after using Tempilaq to test) and away we went. 300 cases later job done perfectly I've uploaded a small video here, https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/103575967/FBUK/High%20Res.mp4 I need a better gas torch and have ordered one of the Clarke torches. Even using the "El Cheapo" one I was able to adjust my torch right down and anneal all of my 300aac cases, nice job
  20. All I get from that link is "These are not the droids you're looking for...."
