I've shot at at 2 day match once, I agree it's just too expensive. I like the challenge, so I'm currently pursuing .22 PRS type shoots instead with my CZ 457.

Brings back memories when we used to do stuff like that!

we had two ranges side by side , one set for a full 1500 match and the other a multi stage Practical Pistol corse,

seems a life time ago now but a few of us still rifle shoot together and surprisingly the old days always come up in conversation,

great days , still miss it 🤦‍♀️

Get over to Daves and shoot . I normally do a pilgramages there a couple of times a year    group shoot maybe ????

  3. Problem is when  someone on the comitee decide they are the one and only decision maker  and decide to run the club to their benifit . Have that situation at the moment sadly and watching the members looking at other clubs .

Its a case of not supporting new disiplines (as they arent interested ) not increasing fees (as they pay for 5 members of their family ) and brining in guests when no one elses requests are allowed  .

No qualified range officers (so insurance possibly void)

No other comitee member having access to club documents (or copies )

My days of shooting with that club are coming to a rapid end .

Unfortunately a club has to be run as a business (to a point) to become self supporting and  survive  , it also protects the availability of the range for the members .

Thank you, iv been over to my local gunsmith today and checked over a few rifles. They showed me pretty much everything from howa to A.I. The one that caught my eye was a Ruger precision in 300win. Was very heavy and had a decent chassis system from factory. I liked the weight too, very similar to my R700. It's definitely a contender...

one thing to consider is where will you shoot it    300win is restricted on some ranges i believe

  5. Norman Clark came up trumps  what brilliant guys to deal with  got everything to do the job except the scope rings and a bipod (forgot to ask re bipod)

The Trafalger meet turned up a Pecar  6x45 with rings (although i might look for something higher mag )  So a Bipod in on the needed list  ..

  6. Just an update to this   booked up and went again in April (2022)  with two guys from a club i belong to , hoped i hadnt overhyped it ......

Must have got something right  as one guy came again this trip ( End sept 2022) while the other one is coming next year  ..

Confirmed my romance with a shadow 2 and its got my name on it  .

Things to look forward to next year ...

  7. after being at a meeting last night  the firearms dept said that they will not offer a temp licence to anyone who did not put their application in 16 weeks before expiring  complete with a medical report . They said there is a reminder sent out at 16 weeks then its down to the holder .

As for storage in my area a lot of dealers have stopped doing it or use a gun trader recomended form and expect monthly payments (as lots of people lodge their guns and forget to pay ) with a stipulation that after non payment after 3 months guns will go th auction  . most around here charge £5.00 a week plus vat  and its a pita for a dealer if they are on a restricted number of stock guns .
