Bisley's open with a splendid new on-line booking system...............you book, they confirm and tell you your target number, you pay, you rock up, you shoot........simples

I've got a slightly battered Seiko 7006-7080, a 19 jewel day/date self-winder bought in the 70's..................not a diver, but never serviced and still runs.
Gains around five minutes a month, which I can live with..........

For what it's worth.............I use a bog standard Lee de-capper which has a 1.58mm pin. I just tried it in some new Lapua cases in 6BR, 6.5x47, and 223 by dropping the case base first on to the pin...............they all dropped on under their own weight. The 223 cases were a tad looser fit than the others.

I'd like the 6BR cases, please.

I was a keen scuba diver, back in the days before dive computers etc. and I was going to ask how reliable/resilient the modern high end stuff is when actually used in anger.
In 1977, I had a Seiko 6105 that lasted 5 years before the seals failed, and I rarely went below 30 metres

Do you dive?

I've fired a .22 Whiscombe springer air rifle with a muzzle energy of 28-30ft/lbs. These used Lothar Walther barrels, were completely recoilless, and were very accurate at 100yds.

It seems that the VLD option will work for both..........something to do with the angle of the "cone" that sits on the bullet.
The competition version must take this into account as they only offer the one type.

Thanks for that, Gunner, you're right................it appears that with longer pointier bullets, the meplat could be bruised by a standard seater.

I've been looking for one of these in 223 calibre, and I've just discovered that Redding do a micrometer bit that converts a standard seater. At £43 squid, this would be a solution.
The snag is that there are two different types, one for VLD bullets and one for what they term as "standard" bullets. I shoot VLD and SMK's.........
My question is what can the difference be, and does it really matter? Any comments would be appreciated.

I've not had any problems with my IOR 6-24x50................sharp contrasty image, and decent thin crosshairs.
Certainly a bit better than the Sightrons that I have.

We use Open Office..............it's free, and IMHO better than MS Office.

Getting a stuck case in your favourite custom F-Open rifle as a result of head separation takes swearing to a whole new level...................

OK sorry, could you move the post, please?

I have for disposal PTG HSS chamber reamers in:
6BRX + go gauge, (1 reamer)
.20 Ackley Hornet "regrind", (1 reamer)
.20 Vartarg Turbo + "regrind"+ go and no-go gauges (2 reamers)
These are from the estate of a late shooting mate, and as far as I know have only been used once or twice. I have no idea if there is a market for these second hand, or their value, so any advice would be appreciated.
If they are likely to be of interest, i'll put them in the "for sale" section.

Done........but having thought about it a bit more, I'd like to shortly add a couple of comments by pm if I may.

A can of freezer spray sometimes works. (used to get it from Maplin's....it's used for finding faulty electronic components)
Strip the die as far as possible, warm the whole thing up in boiling water, then squirt the spray into the stuck case. If you're lucky, the brass will shrink a tad and come out.

I did a couple of hours on Century this morning at 300yds............got through 60 rounds and still had time for tea and bread pudding............
The book and pay online system is miles better than hanging around in the range office, but do make sure you have your shooters card and membership/affiliation card with you as there may be spot checks.

Mine's a Tikka M595...........can do 1/2 MOA on a good day..

I used sand originally, but found a very fine dust emerging from the stitching...........and abrasive dust tends to get everywhere and doesn't do the metalwork any good at all.

Nothing at all................it's all down to what works for you. My partner shoots 16x-20x at all distances. I use 24x at 1000yds......then again, I shoot off a home made bipod, and I'm very happy if I get a 1 MOA group. Gluv hit the nail on the head.......it's all about your twitch coefficient.
