lancslad Posted May 21, 2010 Report Share Posted May 21, 2010 Right guys...............your getting all your gear ready to go stalking. What do you take, How do you carry it. Appart from the obvious, rifle, sticks, binos etc what else do you carry and in what. Myself, Gralloch kit - knife, gloves, wet wipes, hand gele, bag. Survival - Bivy bag, foil blanket, fire kit, hand fired emergency flares, small strobe (diving type). additional knife. First aid - personal kit, bandages, gauze, tape, and a bug face veil. Comms - radio (if stalking in with others) mobile if alone Hanging kit - rope, deer sling. Hydaration - 3ltr water pack and hose. Ammo and Rangey. All of this gear is placed into various pockets on a military "vest" as I prefer this type of set up insead of a "bag" or small rucksack. as I know where my gear is and what is in each pocket....plus I can just pick this up out of my "man cupboard" and know that all of the gear is still there. But it wont be if and when its needed it will be there. Was alwasys told by my old man,,,,,,,be prepared for what you dont think will happen...........because as mr murphy says...................it will. the land i stalk isnt wilderness, but its interesting to see what else other guys take with them........When I go out Im out for about 4 to 6 hours......................so 500mls of liquid aint enough for me................. Once something is grassed, I then drive to it and collect. Other areas that are more physical: Rifle, bino/RF, knife, drag rope. Anemometer (just in case) First aid kit Hydration pack (2.5 lts) Layered clothing Mobile Spare ammo Spare knife some string, some disposable gloves. Never needed more than this, really. Finman Posted June 18, 2010 Report Share Posted June 18, 2010 Hi there chaps, all that is needed has been covered so far, I add to that kit some matches/lighter and kindling, never know if you get stranded and need some smoke signals or something to warm you up if lost in the woods.
