T65
Hi Guys What solvents are people using. I recently fitted 2 brakes 1 in stainless steel and 1 in Black Nitride. I would like to clean on the rifle if I could. Also what brushes are you using.
No i deer
I use CLR but only on stainless brakes.. Leave soaking for a few hours.. A light brushing sees the brake clean as a whistle

No i deer
I don't use it on barrels.. I tried it once and it was no better than boretec eliminator.. It probably gets into the fire cracking and does something.. My brakes come out the CLR like new..
No i deer
Submerge the brake in CLR and it starts on the carbon instantly.. Small bubbles fizz off the brake.. Usually I leave my brakes in the CLR for 24hrs.. I've got it in a glass jar and I've used the same lot for 10 cleans or more.. It stay active for a long time

As the CLR seems cheaper to buy than lactic acid.
No i deer
It doesn't show lactic acid on the zep CLR

CLR is lactic acid plus another ingredient. 1 hour ago, No i deer said: It doesn't show lactic acid on the zep CLR That's correct, Zep is phosphoric acid - same as in rust converter. I've used Holts de-coke spray, it attacks the carbon so you can just wipe it off
Re-Pete
Can you still get Holts De-Coke spray?.....I couldn't find it on their website. Anyone tried oven cleaner? that's pretty good at removing baked-on carbon. Pete
