Semi-Auto travel question.

Recommended Posts

Hi Gents,  Hopefully I'll soon be getting my first semi auto shotgun.

Now If I travel with my rifle I remove the bolt and keep it seperate, My O/U or S/S the fore-end, but what do you do with a semi?

If I’m travelling a long way which will involve a stop at services I have a plastic covered metal security cord fastened one end to the vehicle, the other end through the trigger guards (more than one firearm) with a padlock fastened on it to stop it being pulled back through the trigger guard.
This will slow down any attempts to remove the firearms from the vehicle.

Some people like to take the bolt or barrel off their semi-auto shotgun when traveling, just to feel a bit safer. But if you’re on a long road trip, using a security cable to lock the gun to your vehicle can give you some peace of mind. Also, if you're flying with your gear and want a more comfortable trip, business class can be a good choice. It just makes the whole process a lot less stressful, especially when you’ve got a lot to carry around.
