Jeffo1960
Best combo of the above to get out to 1000 yards, for a Tikka CTR. 308 20" barrel. Also bullet for 1000 yards, using RS 62,and Lapua, LRP, for a Tikka 6.5 creed Moor, 24"barrel,thanks in advance
army-medic
Not for a tikka, but I think it’s still relevant. 6.5 creedmoor: Lapua Brass, Lapua 139gr scenar with 42.8gr RS62. Shot out to 1200y recently to good effect.
Andrew
308: Go to a 175 grain at about 2700 if you can get it. I use Nosler 175 Custom Competitions over IMR 4064 or Lovex 073-6~Andrew
Richiew
For 308 try Berger long range boat tail 175 with 44.5 grain of n150 . From a 26” barrel you’ll be good to 900 yds . Spot on at 700 but marginal at 1000 yds mine run at 2660 FPS . COAL 2.9” or CBTO 2.237 “ .
One on top of two
175 lapua scenar L 43 grains RS 52 ( 2675 FPS ) or 168 Amax ( my hunting load ) 44 grains of RS 52 ( 2700 FPS ) fed GM10M petterson brass with a 20” barrel your going to struggle , but if only goal is just to have a good time and hit the target with a few V bulls the above load will do a Sterling job . If you want to be a bit more competitive then you really need to be having a chat with the FTR/ TR boys and girls they will put you right . I use the above load in my Tikka Tac A1 with the 24” barrel and I have managed some very good days at 1000 . Even the occasional 1200 hardly competitive but good fun . You might struggle at sea level with 168's but I watched my girlfriend jangle a MOA steel plate at 1100 yards using Hornady 168 Match at 3200 ft/ASL on a dry day with a MV of 2649 fps. I warned her that on a different day, the results might have been frustratingly different. With my Ruger Precision 308 and 175 grain Noslers, loaded over a mil spec charge of IMR4064, a MOA plate at 1000 is only saved a beating by my inability to read the wind.~Andrew

The TR boys hold the vee bull at 1000 with 1 in 12 or 1 in 13 barrels, using commercial GGG or Ruag 155 gn ammo, but generally with 30+ ins barrels Have Fun Robin
