yeet
Hi folks, Was wondering if this is even possible as I've got my both 9mm and 22rf pistols granted for humane dispatch, anyone have experience with this? Thanks
topscots1
It should be achievable, not sure if it’s legal. Why not just buy a dedicated HD pistol ? If you use the LBP then you will no longer be able to use it as a target pistol.

Well if the cost of getting the “arm brace” and barrel shortened along with the price of the gun is less than £500 it’s cheaper than buying a dedicated HD pistol
topscots1
It’s not the cost, check the legislation n transferring from section one to section five. it will carry fees to have the work done, it would have to go through a section five licensed dealer. And then be reproofed that is assuming it is legal to convert. The firearms act and various amendments can be found online. In your shoes I would sell the LBP and buy a 22 pistol. Have firearms stipulated any magazine restrictions on the humane dispatch pistols ? it’s certainly an interesting query.
Shuggy
I would have thought that this is pretty straightforward. As long as the Section 5 RFD had the authority to ‘manufacture’ a Section 5 firearm, then that is exactly what they would be doing by converting a Section 1 LBP. No restrictions on magazine capacity or action, I don’t actually own a LBP to convert but do have some free .22rf slots on my license which I could use

Thanks Have you had a look at the Holts sealed bid auction under section 5. There are two single shot humane killers and a selection of revolvers that could be readily converted at sensible cost. Just a thought.... https://auctions.holtsauctioneers.com/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=S2020+++3826+&refno=++145777&saletype= https://auctions.holtsauctioneers.com/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=S2020+++3823+&refno=++152929&saletype= https://auctions.holtsauctioneers.com/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=S2020+++3847+&refno=++154380&saletype=

No, semi auto due to the fact that they are more common in 9mm, they can be broken down into more parts so that they can be stored in 3 or 4 different places, some revolvers completely lack a safety and revolvers cannot be suppressed due to the cylinder gap. They were some of my reasons but I did actually write a whole a4 sheet of why I needed a pistol and that it had to be semi auto.
