Seating Hornady ELD's with Redding Competition dies

Dear Sirs,

I started experimenting with Hornady ELD's in 223 and 308. I'm yet to try 308, but with 80gr ELD in 223 I noticed there is a ring on the bullet where the seating stem contacts it. Does it affect perforance? Do You use specific ELD or VLD stems while seating those bullets?

The AMP jackets are soft. Try seating them softer, I've not tried it myself but I have seen this ring that the seater leaves sometimes, less neck tension may help..

I had the same issue Until I purchased the VLD seating micrometer for my redding dies. A cheap solution I thought also found it tend to seat the bullet a lot more concentric too.

Compressed loads could also make you leave the ring
