Jack pyke Neoprene Double barrel Shotgun barrel cover works well up to 2"/ 50mm you do need to restitch the ends after cutting to length Not going to take a lot of heat tho so hunting only not heavy range work

Ive never felt the need for a mod cover,

As said a good one will keep the heat haze down if being used on a range, indefinitly if of good quality and designed correctly.

I've also found, all be it probably psycological, that it also stops twigs going 'ting' when going thru' bushes etc. while stalking.

The various TAB products are very good, made to measure, will not melt and are not 'Chinese'.

If you fancy a homemade option, I have succesfully used Nomex reinforced high temperature silicone tubing, as used for turbocharger connections. It is rated to 250 degrees C and really does keep the heat haze down. You can get it cut to length in 10 cm increments. Because of the Nomex fibres you need to cut it to length with a really sharp knife. It comes in nice shiny black, so you also need to get some camo wrap tape.

Truth be told, it probably doesn't cost a lot less or look as 'nice' as a proper TAB Gear cover, but it certainly works very well.
