Opinions on wind meters

Hi all

Opinions please on Kestrel 2500 / 3000 and skywatch xplorer 3 / 4 and windtronic 2

I am looking at getting one of the above , to use in conjunction with the shooter app on my phone

When I do get out for some long range I am allways with a mate who has a kestrel 4000 and I fill in the relevant info on my app from that

If the Kestrel comes out on top £ is an issue so may have to go 2nd hand

I have both Kestrel and a Skywatch 4 - there's simply no competition, Kestrel all the way.

I have both a Kestrel and a Windtronic. The Kestrel is better for carrying in your pocket and the Windtronic is better for use on the range - it works well on a gorilla-pod tripod or similar.

I ran a Skywatch Explorer 3 for 5 years without issues, unfortunately it dies pretty well exactly on the 5 year mark which is also duration of the warranty (I doubt this is in anyway connected!) I replaced it with a kestrel 4000 which was flawless and these days I have a Kestrel 4500 Applied Ballistics with BT which does what it says on the box. Right now I would buy another Kestrel without a moments thought.

Kestrel 2000 for, as that was what I could afford at the time. No hesitation in replacing it with another kestrel unit.

im after a basic kestrel 1000,,just need to do the maths when you know the wind speed etc,,,

I have both a Kestrel 4000 and a Skywatch 3 - I prefer the Kestrel.

Skywatch xplorer 3 does the job for night time foxing when walking. If static, daytime or out the 4x4, the kestrel really makes more sense.
