force64
I have a Sako 75 with Border barrel chambered in .20BR fitted in a McMillan Sporter stock. Is it possible to cut the McMillan stock so as to fit an adjustable cheekpiece. Thanks Andy
dannywayoflife
Have you considered a karsten cheek piece would be easier and cheaper
Danpd
Andy, have you seen the Karsten Cheekpieces? They are simple to fit to non adjustable stocks and are considerable lighter than the factory fit offering. If you are set on fitting an adjustable it is possible. Speak to Julian Savory at JMS arms, he can get it done but it's not cheap at £250 ish.

force64
Paddy I know Julian - it was speaking to him about his 20BR that made my mind up about mine! Can't quite believe something that costs $60 is going to cost me £250 fitted! Still would like to know if the McMillan can be altered though. Scotch_egg
I'm pretty sure it's not recommended. On a factory cheek piece the shell is moulded therefore protecting the filler. How about a hunters cheek piece?

As soon as you work on the existing stock, it's value will plummet. I handled a McMillan A-TH on Sunday and it looks much better in the flesh than in a photo. Getting the stock you want can be a slow and expensive job. Good luck. JCS
Scotch_egg
I will add that I tried a Hunters of England stock pack on Ronin's stalking rifle. I will be buying one in the near future. The cheek peice is contoured to the cheek bone. Very comfortable I must say.

Andy Andy sorry perhaps i wasnt clear, The Karsten isn't £250. Julian has a guy who can alter your Mcmillan with an adjustable cheekpiece, but the price is approx £250. kent
Karsten add on cheeks are ok but its better to get them all set up and bond them in place as a belt and braces approach as they can get knocked.
