  1. Germans have to travel to Poland or Denmark to get to a match as they have no own range in that is suitable. We only have one range in Ireland suitable for PRS as far as I know. We must make do with what we have. edi
  2. Since using Spuhr mounts scopes are zeroed much closer to mechanical zero as before. Two weeks ago I went hunting with Hakan Spuhr, he told me they did tests with scope mounts holding zero in picatinny rails. When mounts of any brand fitted dry to rails the zero holding was not good after an impact. Greatly reduced issues when they mounted well oiled. Makes sense. edi
  3. I bought some with deep allen head from our normal engineer supply store. They were in stock. You should be able to get these screws in the UK. edi
  4. First pic, closer shooter is Hakan Spuhr Sweden, behind taking a picture is Britainy McMillan next to her Gary Larson. Gearing up Pia Nordquist Sweden Pia and US partner swopped rifles Hay bale stage... Gary Larson at the left Think this pic was the cold bore shot. case catcher.... edi
  5. Had/have Bartlein, Lilja, Lothar Walther, Bergara, Hardy, Border and now a Hawk Hill. Honestly did not notice much difference between Lilja, Bartlein and Hawk Hill. They are just fantastic, so easy to get to shoot and seem in a different league to the rest. (At least of what I had.) edi
  6. I have the 5-25 & 3-27 PMII here at the moment if you want to have a look at them. The 5-25 has the new Grid2 reticle in it, the 3-27 has the Tremor3. The 5-25 has the tunnel effect from 5-7 mag but otherwise I almost prefer it over the 3-27. I wish either one would have the low turrets of the ultra shorts or the 5-45 your brother has. I was slightly put off Kahles as we were not able to spot bullet holes with my K624 but were well visible with my 3-20 Ultra short. Younger and older eyes. BTW. we don't sell scopes. edi
  7. Something that I observed when watching the guys shoot fast on the line, The T3 actions seemed to be quicker and slicker than others including custom action. You really noticed this when the teams swopped the rifles.... guys who got the T3 actioned rifles shot well and quick but the guys who are used to T3 actions struggled with what they got. In one case I even had to go back to get some lube/oil for a US custom action as the shooter who normally shot a T3 just couldn't get on with it. I am glad I built my future rig on a T3. MRJ, I'll go through pictures and get some more up. edi
  8. Rory, you did very well with that scope so far. What are you going for next? Did you look through the two new reticles I had on the S&B's at the stand? Grid2 was designed for PRS I thought at least. edi
  9. My friend took about 600 pictures I took a few. I will try put up a few bit by bit. Shooting clays from around 1200yds, recon the targets in front are 1200, clays in the bank a bit behind. Listening to one vid we took there were calls like.... "ten ft to the right".... edi
  10. Hope we get a correct result sheet soon... at least I have not seen a sheet that is confirmed as correct. We had a result sheet on a fb page that was possibly from the first day. I know they mentioned some corrections on the Sunday morning but I was busy with other things at the time and missed most of it.... Thanks Ronin for throwing up the pictures, pity you couldn't make it. Just hope that there will be another Guardian match in Europe in the future. Britainy Mc Millan and Gary Larson mentioned the amount of work to organise this last comp in Ireland was umpteen times more than local US matches. I did not shoot at the match but thought the match was a total success and all seemed to have fun. For sponsors it can mean showing products or being mentioned to markets that one normally does not frequent. edi
  11. Made it back late last night, I really enjoyed the Guardian although I did not compete. Made a few new friends and finally met the Mc Millan Father/ Daughter, Gary Larson from the Guardian, Tiff and many more. Had two days hunting with Hakan Spuhr and his Partner prior to the match. Both took part in the match. On the second day US/ Latvia and I think Canadian shooters paired up with Euro shooters to form two man teams. Shooters needed to shoot the partners rifle in some stages. Loved the look on one US guys face when he was handed a Blaser hunting rifle... There was some very very nice gear on the line. Was quite astonishing to see a Tikka CTR with factory ammo hitting clays at 1200yds using a 3-12 PMII. edi
  12. Will has also been very helpful to us and over the years and had some input in our stock designs. Both Jason and Will are very pleasant to deal with. edi
  13. I know one of the Irish lads runs a standard T3 CTR 6.5CM 24" with a Hausken Mod and Sako TRG 136gr factory ammo. Only upgrade was a custom stock. Only had the rifle for a week prior to the Norma Orion shoot but did ok. I was with him when he zeroed the rifle and it seemed to group very well. Not sure if he tried any other ammo. edi
  14. I think what is missing in these competitions is the list of gear used. Who will sponsor a shooter if no gear is mentioned anywhere? Would be so simple to fill out the entry forms with the info. Who will read about a comp if one only reads names and points? Years back still being at uni I went begging around for sponsored gear before going to a world championship, it was always the same question... how many TV minutes? How many articles in magazines etc. edi
  15. That's the thing, quite a lot of us would be out. With light gear chances are better to reach the destination at least. Just goes to show there is a big variety in comps on offer, all under PRS/PRL name. The gear will need to adapt. At least have a few rifles/bipods/rests to choose for the type of comp. edi
  16. Recon all will need to adapt from competition to competition. For example PRL (Viking Series) in Denmark you have 27km to walk/run with all your gear between stages. Some (me for example) might not arrive at all.... Another thing is all the attachments that are being invented, constantly something new to fit or adapt. Over time I think we will see lighter weight base gear being the majority. The super fit SF guys will of course always have an advantage.... but they also get older. edi
  17. That is right, but there is more to it than weight alone. edi
  18. The development of these rifles is a very interesting. For the heck of it I put together two rifles with different spec that I could use next year if I find the time to go. The builds took too long to get finished for this year. PRS is starting to be very popular in Ireland and we also have the Guardian LR competition coming up this month at our Midlands range. The good thing about the lighter end of PRS rifles is that they can double as hunting rifles. Yesterday I just received the NZ Terminator brakes that will go the rifles. S&B gave us a loan of a 3-27 PMII with Tremor3 reticle and a 5-25 PMII with the new Grid2 reticle. Rifle only weighing at 4.1 kg 6.5 CM with 24" Hawk Hill barrel on a T3 action. or the lighter weight 6.5 CM with 20" Hardy Carbon barrel on Remmy action. (suits me better as I am horribly overweight and not fit) At only 3kg rifle weight and 20" it can be an all-round rifle. The barrel seemed quite fast with 136 gr Sako TRG ammo doing 2730fps av. edi
  19. OK, we'll cross that bridge. Fitted one before I am sure. edi
  20. I understand the Irish importer. So difficult getting anything into Ireland... never mind trying to get it out again. Maybe you should put pressure on your importer or go direct to Hausken… saying the importer is.... an importer that doesn't import is....? edi
  21. I think I have the 20" version of that barrel. She has 24mm at the muzzle if I remember right. We had talked about this before... there is a Hausken JD224 with extra big hole in the back. I am using one on my rifle. edi
