  1. Martini henry now sold, boys you missed a real bargain it went with a cased bayonet, new set of lee 577/450 dies both these items worth half the money and a great shooter as well.
  2. I bought a vortex red dot for my win 94 which clearly showed I'd astigmatism, I saw an extended sausage like red dot that didn't seem to have the same poi from shot to shot, sold it to a club mate. For my BLR I have since bought a nikko stirling Boar Eater (I know, I know it's a trifle American) 1x4 IR red dot where the red dot is encapsulated in black and this doesn't happen any more. My advice is try before you buy, with my new scope (and old eyes) my rifle is shooting really well now, the IR presents well for driven boar and is a major step forward for me. On the strength of that success I bought a weaver side mount for my win 94 (it's a 1958 one so top eject) and a cheap chinese IR scope and that, too, has sorted my problem. I have to say that I was shocked at the quality and reliability of that chinese product, rifle has had the usual battering in the car but keeps its zero and apart from some LED leakage around the reticle from day 1 ( easily ignored) it's been flawless, ditto with the nikko stirling the clarity of which rivals my zeiss diavari 1.5x6 (never thought I'd ever say that) especially in woodland of an evening. The positive side, I bought the nikko sterling scope, cheap chinese scope and the weaver mount system for the money I got for the Vortex. I spent a few bob more getting some talley one piece rings from the states for the BLR but these are a real investment rivalling the original browning blr one piece steel mount, if I could have gotten the scope with a 1" tube that would have stayed on the gun and saved me even more.
  3. Scrapped my 12/15 and have the sights a PH7A variable aperture plus hooded front sight with changeable foresights plus a little brass box to hold the spares (I packed it for a sale that fell through, cant be more precise I think there's 7 or more but won't be held to that). Be warned, Bubba has had a field day on the screw heads for the aperture sight/receiver joint. I also retained the lock and most of the springs and pins but not the one that held the breech block in place as it was a pressure bearing component and had to e scrapped. £75 for the lot +P&P OR £50 for the 3 bits of sights and £25 for the remainder as per images. There's also the rail that is let into the fore end that I'll throw in if it fits the box they get posted in.
  4. Mines been on for the last 6 years except when I cleaned the silencer a few years ago but I always store the gun muzzle down for no particular reason other than I don't want the rubber recoil pad to deform. I have never considered it an issue.
  5. Forgot to list but it comes with a buckhorn rear sight with non standard elevator, somewhere along the way I've misplaced the original button ended one. If wanted I can also swap the sight mount and scope for a williams receiver mounted peep sight and knock £25 off the price.
  6. I've been using magtech LR primers in 308, quite a bit softer than S&B, other than the associated issues with that as one approaches the DNE load in military cases (not in federal so far) they indicate a much flatter primer than the S&B with similar loads, I'm not concerned as most of my reloads are well down on the DNE load and also most are even less for cast boolits, in both 308 and 30/30 (which are no problem at all).
  7. Three rifles up for grabs, Ruger 10/22 carbine, 3 standard ruger mags, 3x9 nikko sterling scope Parker Hale silencer, well used but lots of life in it, still shoots great groups £140 Ruger No.3 223 Rem Carbine, 22" barrel. 3x9 Redfield Widefield scope on original Ruger blocks and Mounts, set of Lee dies and about 400 barnes varmint grenades 50/50 36 grain and 50 grain, I'll throw in all the used brass some of which is reloaded and some odd factory rounds if you have space on your ticket. Some marks on the stock but still a nice clean gun. £300 Winchester mod 94 30/30 carbine fitted with weaver side mount base, mount and a cheapo chinese 1x4 scope, comes with several spares including a new lifter, a hammer with stirrup, a used link, several new screws and a lifter spring. Very smooth and reliable. Two sets of Lee dies, 100 hornady 160 grn Ftx bullets, 50 odd Sierra 150 grn FP bullets several hundred brass some new some fired and currently a 100+ factory loads inc 170 grain federal and 160 grn hornady leverevolution. Breaks my heart to sell this but I'm not getting younger. It's a 1958 model btw. TBH I've mostly shot cast boolits through it, great fun and cheaper than the factory stuff. Buyer also opts to have any unused reloaded shells, mostly with cast boolits and rl7 but a handful with sierra 150 grn fps. If you have space on your ticket. All for £700. I won't bs about the size of groups, they are better than I am at shooting! I won't split things and any RFD costs will be for the buyer.
  8. NB they are 100 grain, I'll get a price for the postage and advise you.
  9. From the left, 100 grain Speer plinkers, at least 150 maybe as many as 170, £25+post; SOLD 110 grain Hornady Cx about 45, £20+ post. Barnes 130 grain TSX about 60, £35 + post The next two are not for sale, sierra 150 grn and Ftx 160 grain. Speer168 grain BTHP Match about 40 £15 + post PMC 180 grain SP, about 95, £35 + post. Or £80 the lot + post.
  10. First 5 images are the Mauser K98, 2nd 4 images are the martini remainder Spanish Mauser.
  11. I put a cheap chinese 1-4 ir on my win 94 30/30, massive improvement on the whitetail classic tightened up my groups significantly, only downside, if it is that, is the scope is on the weaver offset mount to allow the cases to go into orbit. I put a Nikko Sterling boareater (lovely name for the states) 1x4 ir on my blr 81 308 which is magnificent but I've swapped it round and put my old zeiss 1.5x6 diavari on whilst I use it and that is still the best scope I have by some margin despite its age.
  12. 1939 Russian capture 8mm K98 De- nazified. Good shooter £600 !957 8mm Spanish Drill Mauser, lovely condition, very pretty gun £400 Dies and cases available. 450/577 Martini Henry from the 1887 ish, this gun has been classified as an obsolete weapon for a potential buyer who then changed his mind, prior to this it was a formidable shooter and there may be dies and cases available but who knows. £750. Will RFD at buyers expense . If you want images get in touch and I'll also give you the owner's mobile number. Guns currently in SEKent.
  13. Are te case gauges still available, if so could you send images plus would you e prepared tosell the 308 one alone?

  14. BTW, reason I suggested 2400 is I've used over 3 pounds of it troublefree and 8 grns of it is adequate; it's also insensitive to position ie it'll burn ok however the powder is distributed in the case. You can get over 750 reloads from a pound of powder and, if you want to keep your bullet costs down, get onto MP molds and cast your own, takes practice to get the technique but not too much. Sage outdoors in the us is good for gas checks and they are a damn sight cheaper there than here, even when the postal costs are paid. Currently, using the stocks of components I bought some time ago, 223 ammo is turning out at around £65 for 500, but I only load a hundred or so at a time as I'm not using that rifle too much nowadays, mainly at the range and rabbit head size groups are easily obtainable at 100 yards - regularly even for an octogenarian like me. Final fwiw, I settled on 2400 but you can use other powders for similar results eg Unique, titegroup and red or green dots but they tend to drop into a pressure spike pdq and I settled on 2400 because for light loads in my 30/30, 308 and hi power loads in my 357 carbine it does them all. If I didn't have so much of it I'd use lovex D036 as I've started using lovex for full power cf rifle reloads in preference to american imports.
  15. As long as your variation is 22RF and not 22LR have you considered a 22wrm? If you reload, fill your 223 cases with shellhouse 55 grn gas checked cast in front of a pinch of 2400 around 1700 fps. FWIW, if you go down this route just neck size the cases. Both are much more consistent at 100 yards (plus) than the 22 lr. I think the 22 lr ballistics are why the 17s took off. Don't get your knickers twisted about ammo costs for the 22 wrm btw, the difference is worth it. Either way, a ruger 77 rimfire is a cracking gun, there's several used on guntrader between £150 and £700, you pays your money and takes your chances!
  16. Old Browning 81 BLR 308, been wanting one for yonks, bought a new nikko stirling 1 -4 Boar Eater scope that cost more than the gun, after some initial problems with a gummed up firing pin all is now good. I bought a cheapo recoil pad (£10) off of amazon, my 3rd one they are reasonably effective, much more so than the so called limb savers from the USA. Mag holds 4 rounds, the barrel bore is the nicest I've ever seen in a rifle, new or second hand and the quality of the gun is streets ahead of the Ruger #1 it replaced and on a different planet to the 1958 win 94 30/30 it shares a safe with. Don't get me wrong, they are fine guns but the browning, or should I say Miroku, is just finer. I bought the scope as I don't plan on using the gun that often and, tbh, was a little apprehensive about the quality, needn't have worried it is excellent so far, I zero'd the rifle on 2X magnification and the POI is the same at 1X and 4X which is always a good pointer. Glass is pretty good, seems to be the equal of my zeiss Diavari 1.5x6 on my other stalking gun at least that is the subjective view and the zeiss is getting on 20 years old without a service. One thing it will probably need the fore-end floating as it's been in storage for quite a long while and the clearance is extremely irregular. I sighted it in at 25 metres and can't get it on longer range until the new year due to family stuff intervening, if you get my drift but I won't do anything until I've run a few groups off which means rolling up a few dozen rounds.
  17. Due to advancing years not using this lovely little rifle as much as I should. The internet says it's wildly inaccurate but I can consistently shoot 3 shots into an inch at 100 yards. It's a 1980s gun but in above average condition and the age is reflected in the price. I've only put about 300 rounds down the barrel since I acquired it many years ago. It comes with a 4 die Lee set and a couple of 100 cases, some primed most shot just the once. Whilst I have several scopes and rings for it, it comes with iron sights and scope blocks fitted but I can sell either scope with it complete with mounts, either a contemporary Redfield Widefield 3x9 with standard crosshair reticle or a zeiss 1.5x6 diavari both these scopes are used btw. Price of each is negotiable, the redfield about £150 including 1" Ruger rings and the Zeiss aout £375 including stainless ruger 30mm rings. I want £275 for the gun including a cheap chinese bipod. This is with the Zeiss scope mounted.
