What would be the typical cost of rebarrelling .223 AR15 type straightpull with a good quality sporter profile barrel. See there are off the shelf barrel options available in the UK, in the US it seems to be a DIY mechanical job, how do they adjust headspace and such like ?

Theres been a heavy barrelled 223 one on guntrader for around £250, for a while now.

Problem is you can't get CZ527 mounts any lower than the Warne Mediums. Don't think the Tikka ones go any lower either. Probably Apel or Eaw do a low set - but likely to be quite expensive.

There is a McMillan stock inlet for the for the 54 action - probably quite costly and hard to find - but if the donor rifle is cheap it might make sense.
