  1. It’s a Haas VF0E, it runs Haas’ own control but essentially uses Fanuc code. Yes it’s a true 4th axis, so full 4 axis wrapped toolpath capable.
  2. Something a little different. A threaded Marlin with a shortened rail and mag tube to allow use of a Wildcat mod.
  3. The subplate torqued down and dialed in, also the tool offsets re-established. It will soon be ready for trial runs of barrel fluting. Slow progress between jobs.
  4. The subplate is precision ground, so it will sit pretty true with the exisiting table. I’ll dial it in with the mill axis’. It may require re-leveling or adjustment of the spindle to make it perfectly true. I’ll carry out various measurements to check it all.
  5. Finally caught up after the arrival of my daughter, and have been working out how to fit in shifts in the workshop. So i finally managed to get the the subplate fitted to the Haas CNC mill. This subplate weighs 200kg and was a bit of task lifting it in palce with only 2 people. Now i have the task of re-aligning the mill and setting up all the tools. The subplate extends the workspace of the mill to allow enough space for barrel fluting, as well as working on larger pieces like stocks etc.
  6. Some left hand bolt fluting from today. For left hand bolts the helix direction is changed to match the action for both looks and direction of rotation.
  7. I mostly forget to take pictures of builds, this one went out the door this week. Pierce custom action, Bartlein barrel chambered in 6mm XC, fluted barrel, Bix N Andy 2 stage trigger, HS Precision stock and DBM. The barrel profile didn’t fit the stock so i 3D modeled the barrel in my CAD software and created a reverse image. Then generated a 3D toolpath for my Haas CNC mill, and machined it for a perfect fit.
  8. Rangey’s 5 round test groups using factory ammo and home loads.
  9. Making my way through another batch of bolt knobs. 90% of the machining is done in OP 1, then they are turned around and finished in OP 2.
  10. Thanks guys. Doing a few late nights this week to try finish jobs for proof on friday providing the baby doesn’t arrive 😅 Rangey, you rifle is in the lathe as we speak!
  11. Thanks gents, hope you’re all well. I’ll get some more pictures posted soon. Things have just been mega busy, and my wife is due to give birth any day now!
  12. Weirdly you’re the second car i’ve had to jumpstart, i may have to start “charging” for the service 😂
  13. Thank you. Alot of time, effort and investment has gone into offering these services in house.
  14. Hi ladies and gents, some of you will be aware of the rifle work i do, some of you will not be. I just wanted to introduce myself and share a few recent jobs etc. So I thought i’d post a few pics of the services we offer (sorry for picture quality-not sure how else). Any questions, just ask. 😁 And for any that are interested there are more pictures and videos on my social media pages and website. Best regards Jack.
  15. They are much nicer than a 4 jaw. I’d like to get a 6 jaw version, but the 3 jaw on the colchester was a bargain, and the Haas came with one luckily. I don’t blame you. I only use it for business purposes these days.
  16. My 3 jaws are adjust-true chucks, they have an integral spider so they can be adjusted for runout. I have some runout videos on my facebook page, take a look. 👍🏻
  17. That is a good turn around, neither of our local forces are like that! Yes granted it may take a month or so, but you end up with a rifle that will be more accurate. And if you wanted a varmint stainless barrel for example that is £730, a rebarrel job is £650. So not far off the price and well worth the extra £100. Obviously if time and money are a huge factor then yes it’s a good option. Regards
  18. Variation paperwork alone makes it a better option to rebarrel, but for the cost of a barreled action you could have a semi custom rifle. Easy choice 😎
  19. I second that! I sent 3 rifles for priority proof 5 weeks ago. When i rang them they told me they would have them done that week.... that was 2 weeks ago!
