  1. I have a RPRR and finally got to stretch it out To 273y, there’s a range down this way that has steels at various ranges all the way out. It’s great “calling” targets at various ranges and dialling to hit them

it was intended as a trainer / 22PRL rifle before everything kicked off. I’ve stuck a golden eagle on it now as 22PRL doesn’t exist in any real way here yet.

Its accurate enough, but it irritates me that it’s not a 1/2MOA rifle like full bore. I’ve bedded it, torqued it, switched the trigger, added a tuner and use sorted ammo, it will do very good groups on occasion but it’s not consistent and is usually around 1-1.5MOA which is acceptable for rimfire, just not my OCD 🤣

Could always use a concentricity gauge and sort your rounds as well 🤔😂

I’ve not tried the concentricity gauge but on SK Long Range Match, no noticeable difference with rim thickness on a Hornady gauge.

8thou difference in ”seating depth” and sorting by that had definitely helped in the RPR.

I still think I’m chasing accuracy that isn’t going to exist though, sub 1” @100 is possible but it’s usually between 1-1.5”

had the chance to run out to 274yards today and could hit a 6” plate fine, but with the 3” it was dancing around with some strikes. Could have been the very light wind at that range to be fair

Some cracking engineering going off here.

hahaha its mostly been filing and swearing, I think "Engineering" is a bit generous!

Sorry I should have added more detail to the original post.

Its based on an Army L85 airsoft RIF (don't get me started on the legalities of RIFs etc, had a huge debate before spraying this proper colours and ended up getting an airsoft defence to be safe) which has basically been gutted with only the shell, sights and the trigger mech being retained.
I originally started out trying to do it with a Ruger 10/22, which as a barrelled action (over 24" of course as is the 597) fitted very nicely into the chassis. However the trigger linkage was going to be a pain and the magazines were far to wide to work sensibly with the mag well.

So I switched to the 597 which was an OK fit, but if you look closely you can see the barrel angles down a fair bit, I have a large shim under the acog to get enough elevation due to this. This is just due to the way it all sits together, but its not that noticeable that it annoys me. The trigger was pretty easy and its a direct linkage so very very crisp (unlike my HTA 90/22 which is smooshy as heck).

The only real issue left is to get it working with decent mags and re-introducing the airsoft mag release into it, currently the 597 25rounders just "push fit"

  4. Just got reminded of this little project.
Not everyone’s cup of tea this but I’ve enjoyed crafting it and looking forward to picking the project up again after a rather crazy few months.

It’s all working fine I just need to work out a better magazine system, have just picked up some cmmg mags from the classifieds.
currently works with standard 597 magazines but it seems a shame not to finish it properly.

  5. I’m still chasing the accuracy on my RPRR but haven’t had time to shoot since June.

I had a brief bit of time today to play with the barrel tuner  but not to a proper extent (no real scientific method, just 1/4 turns to find one it liked)

Of the three targets (100y) the middle one was my “I think this is tuned” setting from playing at 50y, I cranked it one way a bit shot one, then back to tuned then more the other way and it seemed to go back out of tune. (The picture has rotated when I uploaded it, so in reality it is  vertical spread not windage which is what the tuner seeks to improve )

I then shot the glo sticker at 50y to be sure.

All of these were shot with my length sized SK Long Range Match ammo, I noticed much less consistency when shooting unsorted ammo so I’m going to continue to do that.

It’s probably about as accurate as I am going to get it now I think, I have to accept that there are still fliers, they show up on the chrono and you can hear the difference.

At the same time my wind reading ability is also improving as is my technique so these are the next things for me to improve for sure.

  6. Hi All,

After testing ammo in my RPRR I’ve got some left:

    119 RWS 100

    372 Eley Match

£65 for the lot collected from mid devon, I reserve the right to ask to see your license prior to agreeing to meet.

Half of the Eley Match has been sorted and batched by length using a G3 guage and it’s all marked accordingly so a good chance if you fancy testing if it makes any difference in your rifle.
Ive settled on SK LRM and it does shoot better when batched into lengths (you can read some of my essays here

  7. IOR Nemesis 9-36x56 FFP MRAD

This has been sat on my shelf for a couple of years while I was waiting for my .300 to be imported. It’s been for one outing on it and it’s an absolutely incredible scope, but due to personal circumstances I need to free up some money so it’s been replaced with a Riton.

Includes scope, tier-one mounts, sunshade, bikini cover, manual and warranty card.

I don’t know why the stupid iPhone has set the photos sideways but I am happy to provide any more required.

£1329.60 posted RMSD to your door, bank transfer or PayPal (with no fees) or collection welcome from mid devon for £1300
