sako89
Hi! I am starting rifle cartridge reloading and i am looking for a nice book to get me started. "Top-grade ammo" is most recent than "Handloading for competition", do you think that one might substitute the other? Or are they completely different? thanks
The Gun Pimp
Neither sound ideal but you'll learn something from either. Honestly, I think you'll find as much info for free on the interweb. I have a superb David Tubb DVD which is really good - from beginner through to advanced techniques - should be still available. But others may have a better recommendation.
Andrew
You should set out to replicate, as nearly as possible, the best factory match ammunition. Once you can do that, you will be at a good launching point for more advanced techniques. Master consistency first. In that light, any good reloading manual will suit you.~Andrew
palo
I have both books and think there excellent. I only got top grade ammo at Xmas but I think it is a better book for a novice reloader than the other.
JabaliHunter
I have both and both are worth reading, but I’d start with Top Grade Ammo
JabaliHunter
You can also get a lot of good information from accurateshooter.com especially the articles from the defunct Precision Shooting magazine and by German Salazar another book is Metallic Cartridge Handloading by Mic McPherson
chaz
If you can already reload safely, then bar decent components, Dies, brass, and the like. The main thing i would say is consistency. Once cracked, i dare say you can produce far better ammo than, most if not all shop bought ammo... It makes such a difference to grouping. Or at least it did for me. Good Luck. Chaz.
