How are you finding the stock.?

Stock is great.

Heavy (5.2lbs), but lovely quality and fit.

Shoots well of bipod and is rock steady on sticks for those shots when the grass/crops are up.

Had a play today in a gusty field, to check how rifle performed with the .25 cal jetz on and off.

Shots 1-3, mod on, avoiding the gusts

Shot 4, mod on, full gust circa 15mph

Shots 5-6, mod off, avoiding gusts

Shot 7, mod off, full gust.

Shot off atlas bipod and no rear bag, 100m

Its very quiet with the jetz, much better than the hardy

Just get my head round this Gary

Your using the 6.5 x 47 with a .257 mod…..with a .264 bullet..

Or are you using another calibre,,isn't quite clear in the post.

ASE do list the .25 cal as suitable for 6.5s. Very strange, was going to zero my new .260 the other day but thought it best to take the 6.5mm hardy rather than my .25 ASE also.

Yep, closed my eyes when i first tried it!!!

Listed on their site a suitable for 6.5x55 which i presume shoots longer (heavier) and wobblier bullets than mine does

Exit hole in mod measures 7.68mm (lidl calipers)

Just to add,the ASE site gives the maximum bullet diameter for the ".25" size mod as 6.7 mm-

and a short list of recommended and 'reasonable' cartridges, though not comprehensive-easy to check, for all three mod styles.

That is in line with "lidl" 7.68mm exit hole, giving about 1mm clearance, though ASE is probably the more reassuring.

(it does not follow that the 6.5x55 fires wobblier bullets, though,or the 6.5M/S even wobblier ones !)

( ASE market three sizes "223","25" and "308",be advised by the detailed advice on their site.

I always thought with "tight" moderators (pardon the pun BD) it was best to avoid longer bullets because of the yaw as they exit the muzzle?

Anyway, jetz works very well although its a tad heavy, and the rifle is a bit like the long pool que now!

Hmmm....complex,I'd expect yaw to be reduced by fast spin rates...etc etc...

I'd have worn eye protection too,but also trust that ASE know all about their 6.5x55 neighbour.

More critical would be the mod fitting/threading.

But it worked fine,end of!

I see a couple of people have recommended Prohunters, I switched to them in my 6.5x47 and have 2 Fallow run on me.

When we caught up with them both hits were near perfect but just zipped straight through.

Has anybody else had this with them?

I thought I might try something different, any recommendations?

Plastic tipped bullets work well, hornady do one with a red tip that is particularly effective. The only issue ive had with prohunters is overexpansion on roe (sub 30m chest shot, yes i do know how to stalk) and them loosing out to boat tail bullets on targets over 300m.

100 and 120gn nosler ballistic tips kill very quickly, im working up a load for my stiller to use the 100's on park deer. Shoiuld be very effective.

If the fallow are running, aim a little higher

Hate with a passion any "ballistic tipped bullet"

Use solids for the last 5 years at least and always grounded the target with single shot.

Had to pull out all the stops to cull a troublesome whopper munti that had been stripping the bark from apple trees on the front lawn of one of my landowners. Stalked the wood where he lives a few times with no luck so decided to sit out of the wood and snipe him from a distance using the recently fitted nxs 8-32 np2dd. The plan worked. A well placed longish shot sorted him.
